The Kings Request

I finished reading the abilities I was granted with my authority and I was very excited about what the future had in store for me. I began to think about ways on how I could level up and the only thing available to me right now until I began training was practicing techniques. Just like the video games on earth where your character had some type of status window and would gain experience from doing almost everything, I figured there wouldn't be much of a difference here then.

I had a lot of stuff I needed to do but the first thing that needed to be done was passing the inspection the king would secretly be giving me during our "meeting". Before I knew it, I realized it was around the time I should be going to meet the king and like I expected I heard a knock on my door.

Opening the door, in front of me stood my father...

" It's time to go, Derrick." -Earl

"Alright" - Derrick

I don't know what's going to happen, but I'll definitely come out sure of what I'm going to expect later on. And with that being said I walked outside with my father and entered our car.

*Fast Forward to when they get to the Kings palace

The drive wasn't long but with my constant thinking about what I'm going to do the ride to the Kings, the palace seemed rather long to me. I got out of the car and after looking back to see my parents waiting for me I then started walking to the Palace entrance. I knocked on the door hoping someone would answer and within a few seconds an old man opened the door, but even though he was quite old his aura that he gave off made me feel as if he was some king still in his prime.

I curiously activated my ability to see get information on him and his authority...

So his ability "High Aura" must be the reason he gives off this aura.... interesting. There are so many authorities in this world, I wonder what other abilities some people have OOO! I wonder if I can get an Authority to control time from the universal store. Lost in my thoughts Robert coughed which made me return back to reality.

" I'm guessing you're Derrick am I correct?"- Robert

"Ah yes I am, sorry about that I was just surprised by how beautiful the inside of the King's palace looks."- Derrick

"No worries, follow me towards the Kings meeting room I'm sure he's ready to meet you" - Robert

Wasting no time, Robert started to walk in a direction so I started to follow. As we were walking towards where the king was meeting me I took the time to check my surroundings by using my ability to know everything about this place. Luckily, I found a secret tunnel underground leading to some type of treasure room and from what I could tell that place held numerous treasures that were excluded from the world.

The walk wasn't long and what stood in front of me was a door with Golden dragon statues and the words "Armstrong" carved on the front of the door.

"The king should be waiting for you here" -Robert

"Thank you" - Derrick

"Mm" - Robert

Pushing the door open an immediate sense of danger overwhelmed my body causing me to freeze for a second but I regained my composure just as quickly, In front of me stood the man deemed as King and without hesitation, I activated my ability to see his status.

What the hell is this!? this man is overpowered to the point I have no chance of beating him. No wonder I had a sense of danger when I met this man he's a monster.

but for some reason, I want to fight him and take his power to improve myself.

I controlled my eagerness to fight him as I knew that right now I stood no chance against him as my level was too low. Looking at him made me feel like he wasn't such a dangerous man because of this smile he carried on his face and the warm aura he started giving off after that sense of danger I felt before.

"You actually didn't get scared when sensing my killer intent hmm..... I must say that you do surprise me, Derrick." - Jared

"I won't lie and say that I wasn't a little shaken at first when I felt that killing intent you had but the feeling vanished just as quickly as it came. And excuse me for saying this as I don't want to offend you, but if you weren't powerful I don't think my respect for your power would be as high as it is now." - Derrick

"Hahaha, you're different from the other children your age, a lot of the nobles your age always try to use bootlicking in order to gain favor from me but in all honesty, it doesn't work. Anyways I was hoping we could talk for a little while about your future and what your talent you showed during your Authority testing." - Jared

" Alright"- Derrick

" Ok good, I'll just get right to it, your authorities aura was black indicating your talent of a demon which is the highest anyone can get and hasn't been seen since King Arthur himself. I'm sure you realize that this means that you're a huge threat to other races and because of that your life is in danger if news leaks out. I'm sure your parents have told you this even though they aren't supposed to but there is a war that's going to happen that will determine the humans future, I've been trying to do the best I can to prevent this war from happening but even with all my effort I can't stop it. Before your talent was showcased we hadn't held any advantage over any of the races but with you being here I think things could possibly change and give us a huge advantage over the others. I want to put you in a special training program for other talented individuals such as yourself, I don't want you to feel like I'm forcing you or being unreasonable in this situation so I will give you a choice on whether you want to help us or not. I'll give you time to decide." - Jared

* 5 minutes passed

"Alright, I'll help you but on one condition." - Derrick

"What is it?" - Jared

" I want to be able to set my own shop anywhere within our territory. I don't know what I'll be selling but I know when I do decide I want your approval for setting up shop so I can avoid unnecessary problems." -/Derrick

"Is that really all? " - Jared

"Yes" - Derrick

"Alright just notify me when you're ready, I'll contact your home tomorrow and ask your parents to take you to the place where you'll receive your training. If that's all then you can go back home. " -Jared

" Thank you so much, you won't regret it. Goodbye" -Derrick

"Goodbye"- Jared

With that being done I walked myself back to where my parents dropped me off. Seeing that they were waiting for me I entered the car we drove home.

" Did he tell you about the war?" Lisa

"Yes and I've decided I'll participate in it, the king also told me that he'll be putting me in a special training program and he would contact our house tomorrow" - Derrick

"Well if it was your decision to join then all we can do is support you and do our best to protect our family."- Lisa

" Are you scared?" -Earl

"About the war?" - Derrick

"No... not at all' - Derrick said with a confident face

" Good, don't go into a fight being scared as it could cause you death."- Early

" Understood" - Derrick

After that conversation, the car ride home was mostly just my mother and father talking about me as a baby which even I quite enjoyed seeing my mother and father talking to each other.
