Prologue: Forgotten Wishes

---The Writer's POV---

So, I'm currently alone with the devil in front of me. That is not a sentence I ever thought would go through my mind. It seems whatever he did to provide me and the others with a vaguely humanoid form has worn off as I am currently just a floating off-white orb.

He just looks down at me "Finished inspecting yourself, good, so what do you want to do first bloodlines or lineages."

So, thinking back to 'The Plan', because of course, I've thought about what I'd wish for in this scenario I consider briefly. I've always had a very specific idea in mind for a wish that would be fairly overpowered on its own, but with the right lineage and the right condition, it could be world-ending. I see a slight upturn at the edges of the devil's mouth, guess he's not even hiding that he's reading my mind.

"I'll go with lineages first, but before that, I'd like to ask permission to ask a question prior to every lineage/bloodline selection and wish. I don't want to risk pissing you off and getting transmigrated over the mouth of an open volcano."

"I hadn't considered just immediately killing someone after reincarnating them, although now that I think of it that could be fun. Very well, for giving me this wonderful idea you may ask the question as you wish. So, your first lineage?"

"My first question is pretty simple, do I need to clarify an origin for the race I am selecting, since there is an infinite amount of possible universes I'm fairly certain there are hundreds of different races with different names."

"Typically the person doing the reincarnating just reads the individual's mind to find out the specific race they are thinking of, but if it makes you more comfortable you may clarify where the race originates."

"Okay, with that knowledge the first of 3 races I would like is the changeling race as shown within the world of DnD, gotta do something to remember the game I played before ending the world."

"Since that race is weak on a grander scale, I'll throw in a little bonus to the system as a result of that race, and if either of the others choose such a weak race they will also receive a similar minor bonus. Don't get too excited though, it will only be a single stat increase each level."

"Okay, then the second question, as the individual who made both the wish for the bloodline and for the system do I receive any additional bonuses or privileges as a result."

"Typically you would either level up faster or receive a greater selection of classes, although since you asked that as your question I assume your next Lineage will replace those benefits."

"You say that as though you aren't reading my mind. But yes, that is exactly what I have in mind for this race. I would like the second race to be that of a serpent, not a dragon, not a snake, that is capable of evolution, with the evolution aspect being integrated into the system." I can see the devil thinking about how to limit this somewhat.

(A/N: To clarify, I mean a Mythological serpent which are typically viewed as associated with evil. Physically though for my purposes they are snakes with wings, and 4 claws. If its easier to imagine find a picture of Quetzalcoatl and add some claws. Should have a picture in paragraph comments.)

"Okay, but it will be dependent on reaching certain levels, and you will have to choose whether your class or your monster bloodline is receiving experience."

"Thank you, a final question regarding bloodlines is it possible for me to specify a specific individual among a race to receive the bloodline from?" I try my hardest not to think about what I'm about to say next. Thankfully he seems distracted by something, guess one of the others made a fairly interesting request.

"Yes, though that should be obvious."

"Great, then for my final bloodline I would like to receive your bloodline, with whatever seals you feel appropriate." If I had a body I'd have a huge shit-eating grin on my face right now.

"What? That is a unique request." He's talking slower seemingly trying to figure out how to do this. "Okay, but everything, and I mean everything aside from some basic stat enhancements will require you to level up. Every time you reach max level in a class there will be a chance to unseal a portion more of the bloodline's abilities."

"That's honestly more than I was expecting."

"Well then, new daughter. What do you wish for?" So with that bloodline, I guess I am now considered the devil's daughter, guess that should be expected but I wonder if this system will have titles and if the Devil's daughter will be one.

"Question first, as usual. Is the Void that we are in considered stronger than your bloodline."

"Yes, but it is almost impossible for mortals to survive direct contact with it, the only reason you and your friends survived is the large surplus of Karma formed a barrier against its direct presence."

"Is that so? For my first wish then I would like you to deconstruct my soul and rebuild it out of the Void we are in without damaging my consciousness."

"If that is what you wish fair warning this will hurt." With that, he snaps his fingers.

All of a sudden the edges of the Orb that is me blur and then there is this all-consuming feeling. A feeling of comfort and deep relaxation. There is no pain no suffering just the feeling of a perfect night's rest and a massage to the soul. Then the feeling stops and all of a sudden I am no longer an orb, I am an oval blob with 4 smaller ovals coming out of me in the rough shape of a humanoid. More noteworthy, I am no longer white, now my soul is black with formations in the shape of galaxies in the colours that the others could not see. The devil speaks.

"Are you still there and still sane, your soul is made up of the same nothing as the Void so I can't exactly see you right now."

"I'm good and I'd like to make my next wish, I'll forego the question this time."

"Must have some willpower to bear with the pain. It hurt just guiding it." I can see the devil's hands shaking tiny pinpricks of the Void's colours marking the hand.

"For my second wish, I would like a mind that can't be read, manipulated or detected by any being including those stronger than you."

"I obviously can't guarantee for beings stronger than my self but your mind will be unreadable by any being at my level of power for certain. That wish will begin now."

"So final question to go with my wish, have I inadvertently used my grand wish already." Please, dear god, say no. If I have that makes the Serpent bloodline less useful.

"No, you have not." Thank fuck.

"Great, then this shall be my grand wish. I wish for my body to possess the ability to assimilate any attribute that it comes across and develop beneficial non-elemental traits as a result of that assimilation. For example, the Assimilation of the Air could provide the ability to survive without breathing as my body generates its own air and weightlessness. Other elements would provide similar benefits. I would however like for it not to be limited in scope to just elements and be capable of assimilating concepts."

"If you want the ability to assimilate concepts that will have take considerably longer as a limitation as that ability could rapidly develop into a serious reality breaking issue, and that would mean a lot of paperwork for me."

"What if? Instead of that limitation, every concept or element took longer to assimilate. So the first basic element I Assimilate would be the quickest and the second would take longer and so on. With the distinction between various tiers of elements affecting just how much the rate of assimilation is slowed. So for basic elements like fire and water, the increase is negligible, for higher elements like unique variants the decrease is noticeable, but quicker if I have the basic element. Then for concepts the first concept is only slightly slower than an element, and the others following that are exponentially longer. If needed limit the number of elements I can assimilate to one of each tier."

"That is actually a far more extreme limitation than I would have placed, to add a benefit, once you have reached a point where you can no longer assimilate anymore of a given element to acquire new traits. The already given traits will continue to grow at a slower rate as your body becomes capable of permanently drawing in some of that element without taking up the 'slot' for that tier."

"That would be great thanks. So now onto my appearance and name right?"

"Indeed." With a snap of his fingers and a flourish, a large full body mirror appears in front of me. "Since you are a changeling, you aren't limited to any given form so what you are customising now is your true form that will be revealed should you face any effects that force you out of disguise."

I just nod and start playing around with mental sliders adjusting my body, briefly considering giving myself a 2m long penis just to flex, before quickly deciding that no I am a woman, replacing my soul with Void won't change that.

Eventually, after several minutes of tweaks, I arrive at my final form. Standing in front of me in the mirror is a 6ft tall woman with pure white skin that lacks any trace of colour. In terms of proportions, the woman seems average at a glance no hourglass physique or huge breasts but a closer glance reveals that the torso and arms are just a tiny bit too long, same with the fingers. In terms of facial features, the appearance is notably not average, the face adorable, like small animals whose cheeks you just want to grab and squeeze, however tracing just below the eyes are small patches of white scales. The eyes themself are striking gold with pupils that seem to draw you in, and indeed looking deep into those eyes I can see a tiny flicker of Void colours.

For some reason, I was unable to remove the scales or change the colour of my eyes. I assume they are as a result of my two other bloodlines, though I am fairly certain they should only affect my true form.

With that being said I begin to decide on a name. The other two always used to make jokes about me dying if I ever made a character that wasn't 90% edge. I have decided to prove them wrong by showing that not even death can stop the Divine Dao of Edginess. With that in mind, I turn to the devil "My name shall be Forgotten"

(A/N: If anyone reads this and wants a tiny say in something, then feel free to vote in the comments about whether you want the magic specialist or the strength specialist chapter next, for those who aren't clear on what I mean please read the starting notice in the Auxillary volume)

Sorry for not posting sooner, just did terribly in an exam and felt super depressed and unmotivated afterwards. I get that some people may not agree with the wishes she made but it's my novel so I Do what I want. There should be an Aux chapter going up not long after this is released that has Forgottens full status. Fair warning If you do decide to read it, after the chapters where they make their wishes there will be an entire chapter dedicated to each character going through their status. This will probably be my only upload as I am tired.
