The next few days after my visit to Jessie passed with us finishing up the unpacking of our stuff, and getting reacquainted with the area. That included greeting our neighbors and showing our presence to the wild Pokemon of our locale.
I got recognized by a few of our neighbors, but thankfully none of them made a big fuss about it. The most that happened was someone asking for a photo and/or a signature.
I also decided that it might be a good idea to inquire into the prices as well as locations of any available empty plots in and around Hope Town. Not only could I use any property I bought for my plans in regard to opening my own orphanage, but I could also create an official habitat/sanctuary for my Pokemon.
Furthermore, I could create a proper haven for the Pokemon I was planning to hand out to the orphans of my future orphanage. Well, I was planning to include the kids living in unfortunate circumstances as well in the starter Pokemon initiative I was planning, but I was unsure how exactly I was going to determine who "qualified" for that and who didn't.
Regardless, I talked with my parents about it, and after I managed to persuade them that I only wanted to use my own funds for it, they recommended a realtor to me citing that he was the best one in Hope Town. I called the number they gave me and organized a meeting for this Dialday at 3 p.m., which was in two days.
The next morning I decided to finally work on fulfilling my self-made promise now that we were done with everything relocation-related, so I made my way to Hope Park to track down the water-variant Sentret, or rather Furret since I did not doubt that it had evolved by now. It had been around 9 years since our initial meeting after all.
Anyway, the park was pretty big, so it was hard to look for a single Pokemon especially when it was part of a rather common species. It might have been a water variant, but I had not seen too much of a difference compared to the regular one besides the color.
At least the difference was not big enough to affect the tracks left behind by the Pokemon, which was how I was trying to find it. I was not only looking for it the old-fashioned way but by also following any Sentret as well as Furret tracks in hopes of coming across my target.
Unfortunately, I came up empty-handed even by the time lunch came around. I quickly handed out lunch to everyone inside Utopia before I resumed my search. However, I decided to change my approach a bit. I began bribing some of the wild Pokemon for hints and information regarding Furret's whereabouts.
Close to dinner time, I managed to narrow down Furret's usual hangout area/territory significantly. Moreover, since I did not want to waste the time and opportunity, I occasionally let some of my weaker and newer Pokemon battle against one of the wild Pokemon if I thought it would be a proper challenge/match-up.
Still, I had to leave the last bit for tomorrow since I had promised to be back home for dinner on time, so I came back the next day straight after breakfast. This way I had enough time to finish the job before my appointment with the realtor at 3 p.m.
I spent the next hour narrowing the area further down and I was currently following the tracks left behind by a group of four Furret along with 2 Sentret.
While this group was double the size that the little Sentret family had been, not to mention the many Furret, it was certainly possible that their family/group had expanded, and evolution was not unlikely even for the parents after all 9 years had passed.
Anyway, I was following the tracks for close to 5 minutes when I heard the unmistakable sound of Furret and Sentret chattering before I got to see them, so I cracked up my "I'm friendly and come in peace" aura field while heading towards the sound.
As soon as I stepped into the clearing I knew I had found my query since I could see the unmistakably blue Furret among the group that had swiftly grouped together and was vigilantly staring in my direction. I had expected such a reaction since I had entered their safehouse/sanctuary.
Thankfully they did not try to run away right away, so it took me only a few moments to step close enough for them to enter my "gentleman" aura field, and I saw them relax a bit as soon as that happened.
They went from ready to bolt or fight, to somewhat cautious, so I verbalized and indicated that I was coming in peace. The water variant stepped forward to ask me why I was here, while the two Sentret were curiously watching me.
This action showed that he was the leader of their little group which was not surprising. I told him that this was not our first meeting and that I searched for him since I wanted to see him again.
While this seemed to confuse him a bit, I saw another Furret step forward and sniff a bit in my direction before saying that I did smell familiar. Since the voice was feminine I was sure it was the mother, and all I could say if she really managed to remember my smell after all these years was that she was quite impressive.
What followed was me revealing the purpose of my visit while tempting them with promises of peace, an abundance of food, and an energy-rich environment. I obviously kept up my aura field while also projecting my honesty since the claims sounded a bit too good to be true. I also used the opportunity to check both of them.
'Species: Furret
Gender: Female
Type: Normal
Potential: Light Yellow
Stage: Bronze-Stage (high)
(Genetic) Modifiers: None
Abilities: Run Away, Keen Eye
Talents: None
Affinities: Normal, Water (budding)'
Honestly, the only surprise in her status was her budding water affinity, but considering that she had birthed a full-fledged water variant, even if a lot of luck was involved, it made sense.
I seem to remember her being already at the (low) bronze stage during our first meeting, so reaching the (high) bronze stage in all this time was to be expected. Her potential on the other hand had not changed at all and I was sure she gave any great materials they found to their kid. Not that I thought they could find many of those in this place.
Nonetheless, I decided to plant some water-type plants in their future habitat for her and her kids to eat, while adding some water-type snacks since I was hopeful that their little group would turn into a full-blown water-type Sentret/Furret tribe inside Utopia in time.
I was not worried about relations between third or fourth-degree relatives since Utopia could take care of any possible defects. Moreover, Pokemon DNA was more resistant/robust than human DNA, so the probability of defects appearing was lower from the start.
Anyway, I was hoping that adding the water-variant, along with his blessing, into the mix would help the descendants get a water affinity and later on the variation.
'Species: Furret
Gender: Male
Type: Normal, Water
Potential: Light Green
Stage: Bronze-Stage (high)
(Genetic) Modifiers: Type variant, Blessed by Water
Abilities: Swift Swim, Keen Eye
Talents: None
Affinities: Normal, Water'
His screen was a bit more impressive considering that he had been stageless during our first meeting, so reaching the (high) bronze stage was pretty good. That his potential had stepped into the green range was also impressive enough for a wild Pokemon. I was not sure if I should say as expected of a blessed one or not.
His modifiers remained unchanged, but attaining light green potential unlocked a second ability. I guess Keen Eye could be useful underwater and during the rain, so it was not too bad that he kept the ability of a regular Furret in this case.
Moving on from their status screens, I even brought out Mothra/Butterfree and one of the Spinda that were freeloading inside Utopia to verify my claims regarding their future accommodations, and the Pokemon assurance proved to be quite helpful in increasing their confidence in my words.
While we were negotiating their entry to Utopia, the others joining him had been his first condition, the little ones finally could not stand hanging back any longer and curiously came up to me to check me out.
I gave them some snacks, to their joy, and they made happy sounds while munching away. Seeing their reaction the mother-son duo asked for some as well and after tasting the snack they asked for a steady supply of them if they joined and I told them that I would give them a 3-kg/large bag each week.
I did not mind doing that since it was something I was already doing for the others anyway. I literally had tons of these snacks in the storage by now, so I have been handing them out regularly.
They seemed happy after that and agreed to join me after I gave that promise, so I temporarily caught them in some of the unregistered balls that I then stored inside Utopia. I felt much better after that, having finally fulfilled the promise I had made to myself all those years ago.
I found him and I caught him, along with his parents, his little sister, his girlfriend, and her little brother. He ended up coming with quite the extra. After I had stored the Pokeballs, I thanked Spinda and Mothra for their help before I moved Spinda back to Utopia. I also gave their little group an extra bag of snacks for his help.
I left Mothra out so that she could teleport me home, and I let her stay outside once we were back since she said she wants to hang out around the garden.
I took care of showing the Furret to their new home and I placed their habitat beside the Spinda one. I planted a few water plants in their habitat, just like I had decided beforehand, and spent the rest of the time until 2:30 p.m. mingling with the newbie groups.
I left so early since this was the first time I was going to the office of the realtor, so I was not sure how long it would take me to find it. Thankfully it was in the city center, so finding it was not too hard, and I made it there with nearly 10 minutes to spare.
I informed the receptionist/secretary of my arrival and she sent me on my way after calling the realtor. I passed by two other offices before I arrived at the correct one. It was not hard to notice that since the guy was waiting for me by the door.
He greeted me enthusiastically while reintroducing himself now that we were talking face to face. Seeing his enthusiasm/behavior, I did not doubt that he would have been waiting for me in the reception area if I had not come earlier than we had agreed upon.
He guided me inside his office and asked me to take a seat before he asked if I wanted to drink something. After I declined he pulled out a few folders that he placed on his desk while saying that he had screened their list of available properties according to my wishes.
He informed me that the left folder contained empty properties on the outskirts of Hope Town. The next one had properties on the outskirts that already had buildings/facilities on them.
The one beside that had properties close to the town center, but nearly all of them already had buildings/facilities on them, so he did not separate them into two separate folders.
The final folder had properties in the town center that might work for the orphanage, and since that was the thinnest folder I asked him to start with that one.
