CH60 (290), Various Conversations (1)

On Mewday, two hours after the last exam finished up, all teachers that had classes with the third-year students gathered in conference room one. They were all chatting with each other while waiting for someone.

If Mikail had been present he would have recognized roughly half of the teachers in the room since they were the ones teaching his classes, including his previous aura-centric classes.

Mr. Cameron finally entered the room, despite not being an actual teacher, but the reason for his presence became apparent pretty soon. Once he arrived the chatter began to die down, which showed that he had been the person the teachers had been waiting for, and once Mr. Cameron sat down, the talks completely stopped. All teachers present focused on Mr. Cameron.

"Alright, let's talk about the third-year students. Which students are you the most optimistic about? We need to identify the best 8 among them so that we can make sure that they don't face each other too early during the qualifiers to avoid them eliminating each other at the beginning. Don't forget to add if you are recommending them for the personal combat category or the regular one."

After Mr. Cameron said that the teachers began to whisper among themselves about whom they should recommend. It didn't take long before one voiced his opinion. Mikail would have recognized her as Ms. Nord his previous Aura Sensing teacher.

"I'd like to suggest Sorrel for the regular competition. He comes to me on occasion for advice even after he completed his final exam for his aura-centric classes, and I know his current lineup.

He has a (mid) silver-stage Pokemon along with a (low) silver stage one and two (high) bronze-stage ones, so he is strong enough to merit our attention. As for his personal combat capabilities, they are not bad, but I'm not sure how they are compared to everyone else."

After that, the teachers began to discuss if Sorrel was worthy of gaining a spot among the 8 "privileged" ones. They ultimately decided to add his name to the regular combat favorites list, but after discussing his combat abilities with teachers who had seen him participate in spars, they decided against adding him to the personal combat favorites list.

After that other students were brought up by different teachers, and occasionally one would be added to either the regular or the personal lists. Marlene managed to make it on the regular combat list as well, but no one else among Mikail's classmates made it on either list. The other spots went to students from the other classes.

It took roughly two and a half hours of discussions, but they managed to settle on 7 names for both the regular combat as well as personal combat lists.

No one addressed the empty eight spot for both lists since they all knew, or heard about the one those spots were reserved for, and just as everyone thought, once the 7 spots for each list were determined, Mr. Cameron took the word.

"Now, that we have determined the spots for everyone else, let's talk about the spots I reserved. You're all smart people, so I'm sure all of you have already figured out whom the spots belonged to, but I want to confirm that both spots belong to Mikail.

Now, I know that all of you have at least heard about him, but many of you are not clear about the extent of his capabilities. Someone that does know that pretty comprehensively is Mr. Burns, who was responsible for part of Mikail's training.

He has gotten to know Mikail on a bit more personal level, so I'm going to leave the explanation on Mikail to him. Just know that I have met Mikail a few times myself, and I have full trust in his abilities, as well as his chances at the global competition."

After he said that he gave a sign to Mr. Burns that it was his turn to speak, and once he received the signal he began to speak up.

"Alright, I know that all of you have heard about Mikail, but I can directly tell you none of the things you've heard can live up to the real deal. I am a hundred percent convinced that Mikail is going to keep the promise he gave during his TV interview.

Mikail is going to dominate the complete regular combat competition, and unlike his remark during that interview, I am sure that he is going to dominate the personal combat competition as well."

Murmurs started when Mr. Burns declared that, caused by the whispered discussion among the present teachers.

"Let's talk about his Pokemon first. I'm assuming all of you have seen him present his oldest and strongest Pokemon on that TV show. Those two have both broken through to the gold stage, and his Butterfree is already at the (high) gold stage. Also, his Butterfree was a king variant, which made her a pinnacle member of her species.

Not only that, his Xatu has transformed during his breakthrough. Xatu turned into a ghost variant, replacing his previous flying typing. Furthermore, Xatu is currently at the (mid) gold stage," when Mr. Burns told them about the actual strength of Mikail's current aces exclamations of disbelief and surprise could be heard all around the room.

Nearly all teachers broke out into excited discussions. One could hear some saying that those two were already enough to win the whole competition, while others were more conservative but still confident that he would perform spectacularly.

Mr. Burns let them talk for a bit before raising his hand, asking for silence so that he could continue.

"Now, you would think that those two would be enough to ensure his complete victory at the global competition, but Mikail is a really special case, in that the number of strong Pokemon he has caught and bonded with is truly high.

Not only does he have a high number of Pokemon, but he also has trained them to high levels. I know of more than 20 (high) silver stage Pokemon that he has, and among those are species such as Gyarados, Arcanine, Umbreon, and Milotic.

This means that his competitors could not even hope to win against him even if his Butterfree and Xatu become exhausted because he has a small army that could take their place."

Once he said his piece, the discussions began once more and everyone was enthusiastic about what they had just learned.

"Unbelievable, a ten-year-old Expert-Class trainer," exclaimed one of them.

"We've got the championship in the bag," another said and everyone around her nodded.

"I'm kind of pitying the other kids," one of them added and some of the teachers chuckled at that.

"Should we ask him to go easy on the others, as long as it does not affect his chances to win?" came from somewhere and the question caused everyone to look contemplative.

"Maybe just until the continental competition? That way he would be going easy on his academy mates, and the other students from Rota." Mr. Koetsuji threw in a suggestion.

"Yeah, seems like a good idea," came from multiple teachers, with many others simply nodding to show their agreement.

"How about having him refrain from using his Butterfree and Xatu during the continental competition as well, as long as it's not necessary? That way he would feel a bit challenged since I do not doubt that he will be sweeping the two stages before that with just his (high) silver stage army," was thrown in by a petite teacher that seemed to be worried Mikail would feel bored during the competition. That caused a lot of them to laugh.

"Well, we would have to ask Mikail what he thinks about the idea of restrictions and going easy on the others. We can't force him to do so if he does not want to after all," Mr. Smiles declared seeing the ongoing discussions.

The debates went on a bit more until they thought that they had come up with an interesting set of restrictions that would keep Mikail from getting bored, and his competition from being curb stomped.

"Alright, I'll inform Mikail of the possible restriction we've agreed upon tomorrow before the start of the inter-academy competition, and see if he is agreeable to them or not," Mr. Cameron declared, speaking up once more after having only silently listened to the ongoing discussions.

"Anyway, there's still his personal combat capabilities," he added before motioning to Mr. Burns to continue his description.

"Well, some of you may know about it, while most of you should be in the dark, but Mikail also has a psychic talent on top of his aura talent. Not only that, but his psychic talent is as high as his aura talent.

Currently, Mikail is a Tier 2 First-Class Aura User as well as a Tier 2 First-Class Psychic, which is a testament to his great talent in both categories, as well as to the hard work he is willing to invest into his own training in addition to the training of his Pokemon."

Once Mr. Burns announced Mikail's current prowess most teachers could not contain their surprise, and it was not solely due to his dual talent. While dual talents were rare, with dual aura and psychic talents being among the rarest pairings, along with a spectral/ghost or dark pairing, it was not unheard of.

The reason for their surprise was Mikail's high accomplishments in both areas, which was extremely rare at his age. This not only showed that he had a top-rated talent in both areas, but it also shows them that Mikail was working really hard despite being able to cruise along thanks to his high talent. Such qualities were pretty rare and very welcome.

"After receiving the support from Mr. Cameron and the principal, we've been giving Mikail extra lessons on aura along with combat lessons of all kinds, including weapon handling.

I've been supervising his combat lessons, and within these two years, Mikail has reached the point where I called in Tier 3 First-Class Aura Users as his sparring partners to challenge him to the utmost.

He has adapted to the challenges and learned to apply both his talents during combat. I can guarantee you that Mikail is currently capable of running away from everyone under Tier 4.

If he goes all out he can stall, or rather endure the assault of any Tier 3 First-Class individual for at least 15 minutes, which is enough for him to find an opportunity to escape if it becomes necessary.

From what I have seen, Mikail is capable of going toe-to-toe with Tier 3 Third-Class individuals. Furthermore, he's competent enough to beat many of them." Mr. Burns finished his explanation and then everyone present, except for Mr. Cameron who had already known that, was impressed with what they heard.

They collectively agreed that they were going to win this year's competition in both categories as long as no accidents happened. Mr. Cameron waited for them to calm down a bit before they made sure that the names on both lists had the majority votes.

Once the lists were set, they concluded the session, and most left the room, while some remained to talk with their colleagues. The next day Mr. Cameron approached Mikail and forwarded the results of the discussions to him.

Mikail agreed to all restrictions and used none of his gold stage Pokemon during the Pokemon battles. He also refrained from using any Pokemon with a type advantage if possible, but he managed to easily win the inter-academy competition regardless of those restrictions.

The only Pokemon he showed off were his Machoke, Pidgeot, Arcanine, Ursaring, and Raichu. For the personal combat qualifiers, Mikail only used his aura abilities since he agreed to stick to his aura until the continental competition as long as it did not become necessary to win.

That way he would have an ace up his sleeve. He won either way and qualified for the regional competition in both categories.
