Chapter 4: Recount

A tear fell from Tom's left eye. He could feel as a lump was forming in his throat. It was not like he had forgotten what had happened, but seeing his friend and his aunty had given him a moment to breath but now it was coming back.

It was like he could feel exactly how he felt when he was in that dark place and relieve all the events that had taken place. He closed his eyes and when he opened them, they were empty and he started to recount the events of what had happened;

Right after his mother left him there all alone and dived back into the water his thoughts were still all jumbled and he did not know what was going after all he was just a young boy not more that ten years old. No matter how confused he was he decided to wait for his mom, or any of his family but no one came.

That is when it sank in something was definitely wrong his mind was now clear and fear to sink in, he did not know what to do. However, his thought process was disturbed when he heard something like bubbling of water he looked back at the water and something was coming out of the water. It was hideous to say the least and scary.

Tom felt his scalp was itchy, like a thousand ants were inside the skin of his scalp, and the fear he felt was so obvious. When this monstrosity of a thing fully emerged from the water it was worse.

At first glance it looked hairy but cover in tar like substance and you could not think it was a person, however as it moved closer, Tom realized it was actually a person but there was something weird about their neck and a lot of other things.

Upon realizing that this could be a person, Tom's eyes lit up and he felt hope igniting from the inside. Instantly he called out with so much vigor "Excuse me, have you seen my mom" silence "she jumped back into the water did you see…." Before he could even finish his sentence, there was pungent smell that assaulted his nose and went straight to his throat since he was talking. His nose was stinging and his eyes burned it was unbearable. He felt like puking but the smell felt like it had a tight grip on this throat.

He tried to take a deep breath but the same smell assaulted him again. However, as time passed, he got used to it and he wiped his teary eyes and looked at the person who was coming but that is when he felt his knees give in to weakness from fear. He in front was what looks like it used to be human but the skin was rotten he could not tell the gender.

While he was engrossed in the disgust in front of him, he looked straight at the creature's face not because he was brave but from fear. His whole body was trembling so much but he did not care about that at the moment. After seeing all this one would thing nothing could go worse, and right before his eyes a chunk of meat slid from the creature's face to expose the teeth and looked like black juices coming from its mouth.

It opened its mouth to speak and if the smell from before was horrible this one was repulsive. Form nowhere he was choked by a grip strong he didn't even try to fight it. He lost consciousness.

When he woke up it seemed to be in the same place but there were a lot of dead bodies surrounding him but that was not the only disturbing thing that he saw. All the bodies were rotten piled up and there were maggots all over them showing that they had been dead for some time.

In front of them all was the same thing he had seen before he passed out, but this time he could see them clearly. It was rotten and it had a mangled neck like someone who had been dropped head first from very high ground on to solid ground. One of its eyes looked like it was falling out and a meaty thing was holding on to it.

The other eye socket had nothing in it. And all this was happening to a nine years old. He was petrified beyond belief and when he tried to pay attention it seemed like everything was fading and the monster started screaming that "He will pay" over and over again it was screaming to the point of madness. And as everything started to fade, and in its madness, Tom saw with a little difficulty but some of the bodies were being further mangled, and some eventually crushed leaving and bloody paste running down the ground. After that he lost consciousness again.

After hearing the story Chido was visibly trembling and Charles was still rubbing the back of Tom but now he was also holding his aunt's hand for comfort and it seems it helped a little. However, for Solomon a lot of things were going on in his mind and if he was being honest with himself, he did not fully believe the story, not because he thought the Tom kid was a liar but it was just unbelievable.

His thoughts were all over the place. He had been quiet for quite some time when he realized that he cleared his throat and pushed his jumbled thoughts at the back of his mind and he asked, "besides all that did you see or hear anything "

Tom took some time to answer and no one pushed him the left him be, and he was ready he said "the monster's voice sounded so familiar but at the same time it sounded distorted so he was not sure. "…. ah also there were what looked like wrecked cars or something like that I am not sure anymore."

"So do you know how you got under the mud. Where you hiding' Solomon asked but his voice still had that gentle tone, and did not show how skeptical he was about this story.

"I am not sure how I got there however, when I heard someone speaking, the voice was quite distant I tried to hold my breath because I thought it was that monster, but at some point, I could not and I started breathing again, but I still felt like I was suffocating and I lost consciousness again." Tom said and he looked tired at this point so everyone had to leave. Charles had insisted on staying but Chido said they would come back.

Chido walked to Solomon and said "though you might not want to believe his story was too elaborate to have been made up by a-nine-years old for that matter. There is more to this case and from what Tom said it would be great if would have and open mind about this case. A lot of people could be saved if this case is solved. Goodbye Detective Solomon." After Chido said that she walked away with Charles in tour.

Solomon was confused at what she was getting at. This was not simple to go and report to his superiors however he knew that this could be a ticket to get locked up in crazy town.
