Twirl

"Wai-!" Ha-Eun screamed as Jaeneung grabbed her hand, pulling her with him onto the oncoming traffic. Cars were driving past them so fast they were merely smears on a canvas.

Jaeneung took a leap, running straight onto the oncoming traffic. He held Ha-Eun close to him, making sure she didn't leave his sights. "Let the noise guide you!" He walked confidently, making progress and walking slowly. The cars seemed to have ignored the two of them, just zooming past.

"What are you doing?!" Ha-Eun cried out as she did not dare open her eyes, she was too scared. She just felt the warm hand of Jaeneung on her arm.

"You're a pianist aren't you?" Jaeneung shouts over the chaotic sounds of the roads. Even though their walking through traffic, it feels like they're walking in a field. "The way you hold your hands, they're soft and calm but strict and strong!" He was holding onto Ha-Eun's hand tightly.

"What are you saying?" Ha-Eun mouthed. The two of them were halfway through the intersection, cars swerved in and out.

"Trust me!" Jaeneung pulled Ha-Eun, causing her to lose her balance, he grabbed onto her arm, making sure not to let go. A ginormous double-decker bus came straight towards them.

"It's not real!" Ha-Eun thought to herself as her eyes were closed. Through her eyes there was a large piercing light that shined brightly. She could hear the sound of a ginormous vehicle and it's tires screeching as it ran over the asphalt road.

"One two three four, one two three four, one two three four." A young Ha-Eun is dancing around in an empty studio. The floors were made of wood and there was a giant mirror in the back of the room. She twirls her foot on the hard ground like an ice skater on ice, she swings her foot outwards, pulling it back in and spinning.

"Impressive." Ha-Eun's father is sitting at the front of the room, clapping. "That dress is really pretty." He smiles.

"Is it? It makes me look fat though." Ha-Eun stops and looks at the mirror. The dress it compressing her waist and causing her fats to move upwards, giving her a slightly bigger appearance.

"No, hon. You look great." Her dad reassured her.

"This skirt is really pretty though." Ha-Eun twirled around, spinning her bright pink skirt around.

"It's very pretty." Her dad smiles at her. Ha-Eun looks back at him, she smiles back.

"Ha-Eun!" Jaeneung is shaking Ha-Eun, waking her up. "Hey!"

"What?" Ha-Eun is jolted awake. She's standing on the side walk, with Jaeneung holding her shoulders. She's dizzy and lightheaded, like she just hit her head.

"Are you okay?" Jaeneung has a concerned look on his face.

"I'm-" She looks down. "Where am I?" She looks at the road, the cars are all moving at lightning speed, they all look like blurry circles.

"C'mon, we have a minute left!" Jaeneung grabbed Ha-Eun's hand, pulling her. "We can probably still make it!"

"Detective Kim!" A police officer rushes into the room, opening the door. "There's a new lead on the Cross Arrow's murders." He was holding a stack of files.

"What is it?" Detective Kim was sitting at her desk, she was wearing a turtleneck with a brown coat, a cigarette in her mouth and she had big round glasses. She had her hair tied neatly back, with a ribbon. She took the file off her table and opened it, revealing the identity of a student. "A student?"

Detective Kim turned the page, showing a photo of a deceased student, with blood all over the floor and his white shirt stained red. "Who is this?" She flipped back. 'Jay Nelson'

"It's a student at Greenview High-school, he's a first year." Detective Kim looked at the photo, Jay's hand was lodged and stuck in the vending machine. His head seemed to have been cracked open with a blunt object. "What does this have to do with the Cross Arrows? They don't target high schoolers and they definitely don't kill for no reason."

"Mam, Greenview High-school has the highest concentration of gangs and certified gang members. It's a school even I would be afraid to enter." The police officer handed Detective Kim hand another file. "One of the seniors in Greenview, Danny Esposito, is related by blood to one of the cross guild's main leader, Luciano Esposito."

Kim took the file, setting down the other file into the table next to her. "What are their relationship?" He opened it, revealing a file of a young man, he had long black hair and a scar than cut through his lip.

"Uncle and Nephew." Kim's phone buzzed, it was someone named 'Cha-woon' She sighed and pressed the 'Decline' button.

"Say, could you get me some coffee?" Kim pointed to the coffee machine outside of her office.

"Oh, certainly." The police officer turned around, walking about of the door. "By the way, Detective Chris wants to see you at the crime scene. It's a 20 minute drive from here to the highschool, he wants you there at 8." He walked out of the room.

Kim sighed, standing up from the table, she walked over, sitting on her chair. Her entire table was mess, she had files and documents scattered all over her table. She took her phone, unlocking it.

'Do you want to get some lunch later at 11am? I'll be free from 10:30 am to 12 am. Thank you.' Kim received a message from a 'Cha-woon'.

"He's always so formal." She thought to herself as she laughed.

'I'll let you know b4 10, I've got a lot of work' She texted Cha-woon.

She got a reply back, instantly. 'Seems good, please do notify me as soon as possible.'

"Does he text like this to everyone?" Kim laughed a little. She replied with sending a thumbs up emoji and closed her phone.

"Your coffee, Detective Kim." The police officer walked back in the room, holding a cup of coffee.

"Thanks." She took the coffee off the police officer's hand. She took a sip from the top but immediately spat it out. "It's so sweet!"

"But I didn't add sugar." The police officer seemed confused.

"Tch." She clicked her tongue, taking a tissue paper from underneath her desk and wiping it. "I'm going now, you can throw away this coffee, and this tissue." She took her bag, standing up and walking out of the office, ignoring him standing in the doorway.

"How is she even a Detective here?" The police officer sighed when he looked down the hall as Kim walked, she was wearing mismatching socks.
