Chapter 27

Trolls are ridiculous creatures.

As there were no classes today (because of the troll incident yesterday) I was walking through the corridors of Hogwarts thinking of the absurd power level of trolls.

I was sure Dumbledore had a hand in the golden trio's defeat of the troll in canon because there is no way a troll could get knocked out that easily (relatively speaking) and remain knocked out for so long (again, relatively speaking) by a club that fell on it's head.

I knew first-hand just how ridiculous trolls are. I had about half the healing abilites of a full grown troll and boy, becoming someone like Wolverine wasn't looking like a pipe dream anymore, still it was a dream that was pretty far away, just not impossible anymore.

Not to mention, it's strength, which is not the entirety of it's strength, mind you, has made me a mini-Captain America because I was already pretty strong while it's constitution, again, only half the constitution of a full grown troll, has made me bulletproof against most guns, excluding only a few rifles, all snipers and launchers though I think the extent of this was because I was already pretty resilient. I was sure the shrapnel from common frags won't be able to penetrate my skin but anything bigger than that and all assumptions would fly out the window.

And don't get me started on spell resistance. Most common dueling spells won't work on me and the one's that would will take more power from the caster. One downside to this would be if I ever get injured with something that I can't heal myself, getting myself treated would be a pain. Syringes and scalpels will just bounce off my skin and most healing spells will just fizzle out when used againt me. I suppose I still have a few weaknesses like my eyes or the inside of my mouth (and thus potions and the likes can work) left but I was planning on taking care of those through the basilisk. I know it would be much harder for me to heal in that hypothetical scenario were I to use the giant old snake but I wondered whatever would be able to injure me to that degree won't be able to be healed by a normal mediwitch anyway and the ones who might be capable of healing it would be competent wizards so I was sure they could find a way past my bulletproof and spell resistant skin.

If trolls weren't so goddamn stupid, I was sure they would have taken over the Wizarding World. Now that I think about it, Dumbeldore most probably messed with the troll's mind, which isn't as easy as it sounds because of their freaky spell resistance, because there is no way a creature could sneak (read: let in by Quirrelmort) through the wards without the Headmaster being unaware. My GPS spell, on the other hand, would most probably not interest the old wizard because there was no malice or dark magic affecting it.

After my successful experiment with the Integrator on a living creature, I decided to research whether it is possible to use it on magical plants, potions, the same creature again and the duration of it's effects. Most importantly, I wanted to see if there were any side effects.

But that could wait till the vacations, when the castle would be mostly empty. I think maybe I'll deal with basilisk then as well, which if worked well would give me a hassle free school life for the next two years.

Which reminded me, I needed to write that letter for Susan Bones to send to her aunt. And capture Pettigrew as well. Well, I suppose I should use the function of my GPS spell that I hadn't used before, the stalking feature.

The name did strike me a bit in the wrong way, but there was no other name more suitable than that for the feature. I silently thought 'Find Peter Pettigrew' and focused on my GPS spell and a few seconds later I could feel it giving me directions.

Casting my trusty set of invisibility spells, I walked on the set of directions I was receiving from my spell. Thankfully, 'Scabbers' wasn't with Ron or in the Gryffindor Common Room which made it a lot easier for me to catch the traitor. He was roaming around the school grounds doing god knows what and it was too easy to stun him and then put him in magic binding chains and take him to an empty, abandoned classroom.

I used Legilimency, after a long while, to look through the now human Pettigrew's mind because I had no idea if Sirius was actually innocent. For all I knew, in this universe things could be vastly different than the one I knew. I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw it was Pettigrew who was the Secret Keeper, thus making him the traitor and the guy who framed one of his 'best friends'.

Looking closer, I could find no traces of obliviation or any other form of tampering like the removal of memories or unbreakable vows or magical contracts or the Fidelius Charm. I was kind of suspicious why Dumbledore didn't mess with Pettigrew's mind until I saw that unlike the evil greater good wizard I was expecting him to be, he was mostly like canon. He didn't have any hand in the choice of the Potters' secret keeper or at least that's what I could find. For all I know, it might just be yet another ploy by the Headmaster but for now I was willing to give him the benefit of doubt.

After penning down a small letter to Amelia Bones, in which I emulated my inner 'cryptic Dumbledore' as best as I could and wrote a lot without meaning much, I turned Pettigrew into a rat and bound him with magic chains which would vanish in a few hours or if someone wanted to research on it. The creator of this spell was a genius who created several such spells and it astounded me how the RoR even managed to get a hold of her notoriously rare books. Made me question a little what the Founders actually did all those years ago.

The only thing I wrote truthfully in the letter was the fact that Sirius Black didn't receive a trial and to use the Animagus reversal spell on the bound rat. With the letter done, I once again weighed my options and in the end decided to go through with my earlier plan with a few twists because I doubt someone as influential and powerful like Amelia Bones wouldn't have a few owl redirecting wards and I was sure even with those wards she still received plenty of mail that were useless so chances were she wouldn't pay much heed to an anonymous letter even if it somehow managed to find it's way into her hands. So I got up from the desk and chair I had conjured in the empty abandoned classroom and made my way over to the school grounds where Susan Bones was spending time with her friends. Firing a mild compelling charm on her (with a lot more power than I would usually use because I had no idea if old Auntie Bones had gifted her precious niece with magical artifacts), I got her to leave the company of her fellow Hufflepuffs and walk towards an empty classroom. She did have a magical artifact to detect and block mind magics but it couldn't block my overpowered spell. Well, I would have to delete the records of my spells from the artifact after my work here was done.

I used every manner of disguising spell I knew and gave her the letter along with a package containing nobody's favourite traitor and 'instructed' her to send it to her aunt as soon as possible. I was sure she had a code or something to use with her aunt so that the head of the DMLE knows that the stuff she is receiving is genuine so I didn't directly control her, just planted a strong suggestion to send the letter along with another that she would usually send which included personal matters. Removing her memory of ever receiving my letter, I fiddled with her artifact and in my frustration ended up destroying it. Well, that could be one way to remove all evidence as I made sure to remove my magical signature (that's a thing) from everywhere by saturating the area with signatures from plenty of people, enough to confuse the spell aurors use for detecting magical signatures. After all, all those hairs I had collected should have at least a few uses. Hogwarts would do the rest as by the time classes commenced once more, the magic of so many students will also mingle with the rest and it would be impossible to judge who was the culprit.

Now all I had to do was wait for the situation to develop and calmly sip a cup of tea while sitting in the background.

After all, if I had the opportunity to do so, why wouldn't I fulfill a harmless little wish of mine?
