8: Reunion

"Are you sure this will work?" - Saya asked while frowning slightly, though if she was honest, this was the only solution they had to get out of this precarious situation.

"It may not be a real gun, but I'm one hundred percent sure that this little one will be more than enough to kill those things" - Kohta answered while nodding with a wild smile on his lips, which caused a huge surprise in the two girls who didn't expect the spectacled boy to change his personality while holding a gun in his hands - "Nail gun with the necessary modifications to fire a round of 20 shots, without making much noise, it's perfect to escape."

"To meet up with the others" - corrected Airi while frowning slightly.

"Details" - replied Kohta as he shrugged, though he quickly frowned - "Mind you, looking at the amount of "'cartridges' we have, I don't think I can do much if those things surround us."

"Then we have to ensure that doesn't happen" - Saya said with a frown as she looked out the window and noticed how the courtyard was full of those things, both adults, and students - ". . ."

"What are we going to do?" - Airi asked warily.

"We have to find a way to contact the others, I'm sure they must be looking for us" - Saya answered while biting her lip - "Any ideas?"

"How about going to the communication room to send a message?" - Airi asked as she pointed towards the mentioned place - "It's next to the teacher's lounge, place where possibly one of our teachers will go to get their keys."

"That's an excellent idea" - smiled Saya as she put her hand on her friend's shoulder - "What do you think, Hirano-san?"

"It's the best idea we have, not to mention that I have nowhere else to go" - Kohta replied as his smile grew even bigger - "Besides, I want to try what my baby can do."

Saya gave him a blank look before shaking her head.

"This is an excellent idea, Marikawa sensei" - Saeko said as she killed another zombie with her trusty shinai - "Though I think we'd better take a bigger vehicle, that way we can get past those things."

"Makes sense" - nodded Shizuka as the two continued to run through the corridors - "By the way, I recommend you not to take me for a fool"

"I didn't plan to, and if my words made it seem so, I apologize for that" - replied Saeko as she signaled the nurse to be quiet because she had managed to hear the sound of a group of those things - "Follow me quietly."

"It's very quiet..." - Takashi said with a frown.

"Possibly, because those things are busy chasing those screams on the other side of the school" - Rei replied while frowning slightly - "What do you think, Miku?"

"That our society will go to shit" - Miku replied while shaking her head, though her expression changed slightly when she heard a girl's cries for help.

"Shouldn't we help her?" - Takashi asked with concern.

"Let's worry about our safety first, and then let's try to be heroes" - said Rei while giving him a blank look - "Besides, the time we waste saving others, the less time we'll have to find Saya-chan and Airi-chan."

"You're right, sorry" - muttered Takashi as he tightened his grip on his baseball bat.

[One, two, three, testing...]

"Saya!" - exclaimed Takashi's group members as they heard their friend's voice for a few seconds - "Well, now we know where they are"

"That's good, she just told us where she is without needing to announce her intentions" - said Rei with a huge smile as she peeked into the next hallway to see if there were more of those things - "Let's go to the communication room."

"Ok" - nodded Takashi and Rei as they walked beside her.

[One, two, three, testing...]

"That voice... Takagi-san!" - Kyoko exclaimed, only to cover her mouth when she noticed how she had shouted - "I'm sorry."

"You don't have to worry, those things are distracted by the sound of the loudspeakers" - Cloud replied as he frowned slightly - "From what I can see, those things are blind and detect their prey with their sensitive sense of hearing..."

"That's good to hear, it could save us in the future" - nodded Kyoko, who understood that the words Cloud had told her, were completely true. Those things were zombies, and if he hadn't "killed" Teshima, it was quite possible that she would have died at the entrance.

She slowly looked up and saw the handsome face of the serious blond young man, just to feel her heart skip a beat.

Cloud felt the teacher's gaze, so he quickly looked at her, noticing the blush on her cheeks - "Are you tired, Kyoko sensei?"

"Huh? Oh, no" - replied Kyoko as she shook her head to hide her embarrassment - "Let's continue."

"Ok" - nodded the blond as the two slowly made their way through the halls of the high school of the dead.

"Did you manage to find the keys to the cars?" - Saya asked as she looked at her two teammates.

"Only the one for the personal cars, Saya-chan" - replied Airi with annoyance - "We didn't find the one for the school buses."

"Supplies?" - The pink-haired girl asked again.

"Some snack, chewing gum, and a small cardboard cutting knife" - Kohta replied while shaking his head - "We could tie the cardboard knife into a tube to create an improvised spear."

Saya let out a sigh, though her expression changed when she heard someone knocking on the door.

She quickly signaled Kohta to aim as she approached and opened it from behind, to prevent the person outside from attacking her, though she quickly relaxed when she heard a familiar voice - "Saya-chan, it's me."

"Rei, Takashi!" - Saya exclaimed happily as she let the group of three in.

"Takashi / Airi!" - exclaimed the lovers as they hugged each other.

"I see we're the first ones to arrive" - Miku said as she looked around and noticed how the blond was nowhere to be found.

Saya was about to say something else, when she heard a second knock on the door.

Kohta didn't need to be told anything, he simply pointed towards the door as the pink-haired girl repeated what she had done before, hearing other familiar voices, so she opened the door, revealing two beautiful women.

"Thank you" - smiled Saeko as she looked around and noticed how the blonde boy was nowhere to be seen - "I see Cloud still hasn't arrived".

"Yes, though it's a surprise to see you together with Marikawa sensei, Busujima senpai" - replied Saya as she crossed her arms.

"Call me Saeko, I don't think it's time to be so formal" - replied Saeko while shaking her head - "As for why we were together, it's because we were heading to this place, so we could get the keys to the school buses and escape."

"Good luck, we didn't find them"- Saya replied while frowning.

"It's because us teachers kept them in a different place" - Shizuka said as she trotted over to a huge shelf and grabbed something from the top - "Done."

Saya looked neutrally at this before grabbing the bridge of her nose - "Anyway, now we just have to wait for Cloud to arrive, so we can escape."

The youths were about to discuss something else, when they heard the door again being knocked on.

The two bespectacled youths quickly got into their positions and repeated what they had done twice, only for this time a male voice to be the one that appeared.

Saya quickly opened the door, revealing a handsome blond boy with a huge sword on his back, and a seductive dark brown haired woman who seemed to be glued to him, which caused her to frown again.

"Sorry for the delay, let's just say I lost my way" - Cloud said with a slightly teasing tone, which was met by a blank stare from everyone but Kohta who was confused, and Shizuka, who was happy to see her blonde companion - "Tough crowd..."

"If you're done with the jokes, it's time for us to plan our next move" - Saya said as she folded her arms and gave the blond boy an annoyed look.

"I thought my pretty genius already planned something" - Cloud replied with fake surprise.

Saya blushed slightly before coughing and changing the subject - "We were waiting for you, so we could move towards the parking lot... we decided to take one of the school buses"

"Sounds like a perfect idea to me" - Cloud nodded as he smiled internally because this was something the original cast had done, so things hadn't changed much, of course, except for the presence of the new members of the group - "Though I feel like we'd better rest for a few minutes and see what the TV can tell us"

"You took the words right out of my mouth, Cloud" - Saya replied as she smiled slightly while adjusting her glasses.

Cloud was about to say something else, when he felt a soft sensation on his back - "Shizuka sensei?"

"Thanks for letting me know to get ready, Cloud-chan ~" - smiled Shizuka as she gave him a small kiss on the cheek, something that annoyed all the girls in the group, except for Airi who was still in her world with her boyfriend.
