After Grindelwald left England, he stole the Elder Wand from Gregorovitch and pushed forward the revolution that he had planned together. His violent acts spread throughout the United States and Europe, and he established the fortress of Nurmengard in central Europe to consolidate his power. In 1945, when his power reached its peak, Dumbledore fought a thrilling duel with him and defeated him. Grindelwald was locked in a cage he had built himself.
