Sirius Black was a character in the Harry Potter series of novels by British author J.K. Rowling. He was the last heir of the Black family. He was a Gryffindor student, nicknamed Padfoot. He was tall, dark-haired, and handsome in his youth. He first appeared in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as a close friend of the Potters and a member of the Order of the Phoenix. He was mistakenly believed to be a traitor and imprisoned in Azkaban, but he was actually James Potter's best friend and Harry Potter's godfather.
