I didn't know they even made urban chinese novels this generic anymore. It feels weird reading generic tropes from years ago mixed with a sprinkle of a the newer and nearly as generic cheat trope. It's pretty unholy. So far we have a retired special forces fellow with a terminal disease. Standard. We got the damsel in distress trope, the cold rich second generation pretty girl from school who really likes you trope and the saving an old man having an acute episode trope. Theres more but I think I've made my point. Predictable, uninteresting and distressingly unoriginal. This novel's unholy matrimony of bad tropes from years ago and bad tropes that are popular now is an abomination of the highest order, the most entertaining thing about this novel is how surreal and wrong it feels when reading it. 1.75/5.
