is the manga edge of tomorrow based on a japanese or western novel

I just can't get behind this novel, it's cool and all but it just doesn't make sense at some points. Minor words are just missing from sentences. People can "eat" his radiation to become stronger instead of getting cancer and outright dying. I just finding confusing and less interesting than the title would suggest. Not to mention it feels like a Chinese adaption of a Japanese based manga/anime. And idk about everyone else, but Chinese written styles absolutely ruined Japanese based anime/manga for me.

The translation is well done most of the story, except for the part that the writer uses more of Chinese/Japanese slang words such as zhuangability or leilibity. These slang words don’t exceeds in the standard novel writing in the western part.

Chinese slop cultivation in a japanese manga/anime

I like it already as I have read similar story arcs from Japanese authors previously but they all followed the same script. The author here has a refreshing western approach which allows him to build his own storyline without falling into the same boring traps that the Japanese authors have slumped into. I really look forward to reading more of this novel.
