Your story is fine, but it's too common, most Pokemon fanfics try to show the worst of that world, it's surprising how much dirt they throw at the series, the authors seem to deliberately ignore what makes it popular world, they seem to focus a lot on the manga and the flaws or plot holes. The worst thing is that most of these fanfics are among the most popular and it makes me wonder if the majority of readers have a bad taste for trauma or are simply masochists.
