UNREQUITED LOVE COMES TRUE
"She made me smile even in my worst moments. That’s why I fell for her."
---
“You never liked me?”
Jun froze in place. His back remained turned. “You already know the answer, Ani. So why ask?”
“I want to hear it from you,” she replied, her voice quivering. “I want to understand why you hate me.”
Jun finally turned around, carrying the usual cold gaze.
“I never liked you. And I never will. Because you have no direction, no ambition. I can’t stand beside someone who drifts through life aimlessly. That’s what I despise the most. And unfortunately, Ani, you are one of those people.”
---
“Did you never love me?” Jun asked quietly, the weight of years pressing on his shoulders.
Ani looked at him, startled, as tears welled in her eyes. “Jun…”
“You didn’t love me. Not truly,” Jun said, his voice cracking. “If you had, you would’ve come to me first, even if my father forbade you. You would’ve picked up the phone, called me, and said, "'Jun, I need you here.' But you didn’t. Not once.”
He paused, his voice trembling. “All these years, I loved the wrong woman. I believed in my love for you, but that love only betrayed me in the end.”
Tears rolled down his cheeks, and he wiped them away with a shaky hand.
“Don’t ever show me your face again, Ani. If you do, one of us might end up breaking beyond repair. You once said we shouldn’t cross paths again, today, I’m making that real. From now on, there is no Jun in your world. And there is no Ani in mine.”
