What does it mean to set up twelve gods and set up a fixed date? The Twelve Gods of Creation and Destruction were the twelve gods in China folk beliefs. They were respectively, Creation, Destruction, Fullness, Peace, Calmness, Perseverance, Destruction, Danger, Success, Recovery, Opening, and Closing. They took turns every day, repeating the cycle, and were responsible for protecting the peace of the mortal world. Dingri is one of the twelve gods.
In the traditional lunar calendar, under the twenty-eight constellations, the names of the gods who were on duty today would usually be marked on each day in order as a reference for choosing good or bad days. They were called the twelve days of construction and removal. According to folk customs, the twelve gods were divided into auspicious days and ominous days. The song was "To build a full flat to collect black, to eliminate danger to hold yellow, to open and close can be used, to close and break is not equal". The fixed date belonged to the small ecliptic day. When people encountered important events such as marriage, burial, moving, opening, etc., they would choose auspicious days according to the creation of the twelve gods to avoid unlucky factors. This reflected the psychology of seeking good luck and avoiding evil. Although it seemed to lack scientific basis, it could make people feel more at ease when doing things.
