Reborn: The Rookie Detective
Jack Tavelor has three problems.
First, he used to be a middle-aged Japanese man named Kenji Tanaka. Now he's a 21-year-old mixed-race American with a face like Keanu Reeves and an English vocabulary that barely passes CET-4.
Second, he's trapped in a Frankenstein's monster of a TV universe where Dr. House yells at interns from *Grey's Anatomy*, his "uncle" Danny is from *Hawaii Five-0*, and his future boss, Captain Zoe Anderson, has a habit of straddling his lap when her trainee Hannah isn't looking.
Third, and most importantly: the writers kill off characters for cheap drama. Arbitrarily. Absurdly.
But Jack refuses to be a victim. Not because he's brave—because he has a Detective Development System that rewards him for surviving, and a healing skill that fixes bruises before his lover notices. He's not cannon fodder. He's the variable the script never planned for.
Now he's heading to the LAPD police academy. His goal? Pass training, save the doomed extras, and maybe—just maybe—find out which lazy genius wrote him into this mess.
Preferably before someone else dies for a plot twist.
