Extremely good but I stopped at the genderbending part, not my taste. Not exactly sure if I am right but the gender-bender person is the love interest but other than that story is great and has an actual " evil protagonist".

I don’t know why the tag is there, but I can tell you that there is no love interest in this novel, and to prove that there is no love interest in this novel. Spoilers !!!! At the bottom!!!! When he goes to the Northern plains, there is a girl that Fang yuan meet. The girl hang out with Fang yuan and over time become interest in him, but since she know some of the secrets of Fang yuan. Fans yuan kill her. So there is no love interest in this novel, and the tag is just wrong.
