It's wasn't some weeks. When frieza gained the soul memories and passed out. until he got his mechanical body and trained. and reached earth. it was months of time, especially since thunks came from the future and gave goku the medicine, but different form the canon he didn't see frieza, as the man was still out as the merging with the memories made him unconscious much longer. so add that up for his time to reach earth. so it wasn't just 'Some weeks'. But it's understandable as I didn't explicitly say it.
