If I had to use one word to describe this novel it would be: Childish. Don't get me wrong the premise is interesting and the author definitely has talent, but the whole thing feels like it came from the mind of someone that hasn't matured enough to write a good novel. I don't say this because I think the story needs a big dramatic reveal or because it doesn't have enough depth or anything of that sort. There are several simplistic stories that work well enough without depth, but this one reads as a fantasy where choices and decisions don't have consequences, cringe is acceptable because it is a fictional world and the results are more important than the process as long as it reaches the point the author intended. Like I said, I see a lot of potential, and this author is for sure going places if he/she keeps this up and matures himself/herself, but as a work on its own, it just doesn't hold up as well as it should.
