Wishes... thats a big hurdle for me to pass. Best case scenario I can say the wishes are okay, worse case, they are so dumb the story has to be dropped. Should go with no wishes. You can go with the most broken power that allows him to absorb powers and grow but if the wishes have no restrictions it is still a bad wish.
Unfortunately the wishes have already been placed! Though I do hope you continue to read. His wishes, yes, are broken. But they still require training and understanding to be pushed to the limit. Give it a chance and you'll see that the OP arc is mainly as a beginning to a more fleshed out novel.
