Starts off very strong, but as the book goes on and shifts from the POV of the COTE cast to the Oregairu cast, we find that the author treats Yukino, Yui, and Shizuka like utter garbage. As in, he creates this alternate universe where their lives are all ruined for no other reason than what I can only assume is a mixture of malice and hatred. The argument can be made that he changed the plot to make it possible for Hikigaya to attend the COTE school, but the way he went about it was so vile that I can no longer read this.

…No I vehemently disagree with that take actually. If you find them annoying that’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it, but I think they’re supposed to be fundamentally flawed people, everybody in oregairu is. Yukino is one of the most compelling characters in a romcom I’ve ever seen, and if you get past the arrogant front and scathing banter you’ll find a fragile but lovely girl who just wants to be accepted for who she is. Yui is very similar but she goes with the flow instead of standing against it. I’d argue that Shizuka is the most annoying (although not very annoying and I still adore her) because half the time she’s mostly a gag character and does actually physically assault Hachiman, which is why I think the author hates her so much in particular. Regardless, the author has no right to commandeer beloved characters that are not his just to make them suffer; it’s disrespectful towards the original author he took the characters from.

Ireallylikereading:those three girls (excluding shizuka) although didnt deserve what happened to them you still gotta agree they were really annoying.

ok fine your right (i reluctantly half agree) i was just speaking my mind without thinking, i understand and agree with your point but im not taking back the shizuka kinda deserved it comment, nothing you say can change my mind that teachers hitting their students with extreme violence is fine and that includes her annoying threats.
