this will be mid to me how you gonna have a guy be reincarnated know the ins and outs of the verse has a desire to be powerful yet at the same time rejects a possible boost that will give him that strength what person willingly handicaps themselves like this and I know what happens next is gonna be some bs power ups that probably gonna be a middle finger to any type of power structure in the and this is the only reason I didnt give it a one star I wanna see how you violate the worlds consistency

A dragon's rider is destined. Even if he wanted to, Saphira wouldn't hatch for him.

it still doesn't change the fact that the egg never hatched for anyone except Eragon, even the elf chick got nothing from it.

your point do not negate the argument he would have failed but he didnt try and even made up a stupid nigh spiciest reasoning for his excuse to not get a dragon at all which is dumb where in a world the strongest have dragons this is the point your looking at it from a omniscient point of view not a down to earth one

Yeah the readers like dragons but the MC doesn't, that's his justification and if you've been reading than you'd know that Cedric does no want to be involved in the world's plot/storyline. His goal is to discover more magic and become stonks so he won't need a dragon.

thats my issue his plan is to discover more magic and become strong dragons are the ultimate horse to ride on that path not to mention his reasoning is nonsensical I dont have to like vegetables but I still eat them to be healthy a picker cant be a chooser and unless your planning to break every conceivable power structure in the verse to make that dream which is as I stated the reason for 3 stars to see how much you abuse the system

This is just author and character bias at this point. The author is trying to write an OC that is flawed and I have a feeling that getting "Saphira" would take away from the characters arc and development compared to a Gary Stu that gets power and convience in chapter 1. Also again he doesn't want to deal with other people whether that would be from the plot but just in general as whole.
