I really liked the novel, but I felt that short chapters might be a good view of a character's past in certain respects, but I saw it as unnecessary because there was no more to add to a character's past.

Short chapters, I have addressed this before. I make short chapters because I am by no means a professional, so I do these to make sure I don’t burn out. and I’m a bit confused what you mean short chapter backstorys/flashbacks. I do those so you can get to know my MC more and what his life was like. Anyway thank you for the review!
