the problem with him being Tang San's friend is that the story will not change from the original, the protagonist will follow Tang San and the plot will not change much, but if he is Tang San's enemy he is likely to go to the Hall of Spirits or something

I didn't say that being friends with Tang San is ideal, I just prefer a story without that annoying thing where every single chapter the MC keeps calling the master and Tang San a hypocrite, for me that's just dumping repeated information, why every chapter and that doesn't change, I barely swallow it when the system gives a mission to despise Tang San, but I've seen some fanfics where the mc has no system, no reason at all other than his useless hatred against Tang San and he still goes to shrek academy to humiliate Tang San, what is the need for this? The mcs themselves say that the shrek academy is a waste of time and tricks the geniuses into joining the academy because they don't have any cultivation resources to support the students' cultivation, so why are they wasting their time there?
