Got to Ch 122 and I'm dropping this novel, it makes me too angry. I'll make a list of things I find abhorrent in the novel. 1) Poor translation quality: The word "wife" was somehow replaced by "daughter-in-law" in every chapter of the novel. The ML will refer to the FL as his "daughter-in-law" instead of "wife" and it is really irritating. 2) Every single event in the novel has the same layout. Husband's family has connections to some greedy b*tch (grandmother, aunt, niece, etc.) who shows up uninvited and covets FL's dowry. FL fends them off smartly and is always in the right. ML is either absent or a bystander in every conflict while the Mother-in-law always asks FL for forgiveness or magnanimity citing that they're "family". Later afterwards, FL has to show them that they've wronged her and ML and Mother-in-law promises that they will protect her, only immediately to forget what they say and wrong her the very next conflict. 3) I'm not sure what the author's character setting for the Mother-in-law and ML are supposed to be. Mother-in-law was told to the audience to be "fair" and "appreciative" of the FL, but every time she will side with outsiders and ask for benefits from the FL with her actions. Even when her niece hires thugs to rape/kill the FL and they are caught red-handed, she emotionally blackmails the ML into not sending her to the authorities. Then there is the ML. He folds like a lawn chair against his mother and won't support the FL when she's wronged. He's also controlling even though he doesn't protect the FL with his actions. He's supposedly going to become the future Prime Minister and the author keeps "telling" the audience that he's a capable person, but we're over 100 chapters in and he's still a peasant farmer that goes hunting, without any kind of literacy (he has no schooling, and only when wealthy FL marries in do the nephews and nieces get any sort of basic education from her) 4) Author introduces her loyal maid, but forgot about the character, always conveniently sending her away on errands for all the events in the story. She's supposed to be a capable battle maid, but she's always conveniently absent when the FL is being physically attacked or out on some unexplained multi-day business trip. 5) No villains are harmed in the events of this story. FL suffers abuse, but she's won't follow-through on demanding justice. ML is only "ruthless" in his words but not his actions. Mother-in-law always sides with villains because they're her family. There's more problems with the story, but these are the worst parts that come immediately to mind. There is no pay-off or satisfaction where the FL is powerfully successful with her cheats and no development. This story isn't worth your time to read, there are plenty of other better ones out there.
