loving book but school tournament makes no sense in the world u built. in a country where they fighting a war against another country and one against monsters the importance of getting best talent on surface would be important. i mean obvisouly corruption would obvisouly be a factor. however by having the tournament be random the school took a risk of top student eliminating each other as shown by adam and mcs friends fight. the tournament should of been structured so that the top students didnt compet against each other in first round and since there was 22 spots 2 of the spots could of went to a losers bracket in case of a powerful student being eliminated by another powerful student early on.

no i get there was a reason for it. im saying that if i was say the parents of one of the top students and i found out my kids spot was up for grabs that the reason that was given to the students and their parents would if placated me. like as soon as they announced that the pairings would be random i would be at school asking what were they planning to do if the number 2 student faced the number 1 student in first round. like second place student wouldnt of went but 23rd rank student was going? see my point?

also i had recently read a different novel where they had a tournament to see who would represent their school in a multi school team event and to prevent that they had a loser bracket and they took top 10 and put 1 student in each bracket to where they wouldnt fight until last matches because they wanted to make sure theur school had best team possible
