Review Detail of Chaddts in Water Mage

the author is not a native speaker of English, and it shows. Perhaps this novel is far better in the authors native language. Many words are repeated in the same paragraph. Weird word usage such a predecessor when it was his father who was the predecessor abound. The author has done a fine job proofreading the novel atleast the first chapter, however it lacks something... the writing feels flat? Stilted? I'm not sure what it is ,but its not right at all. Perhaps it's the translation but it's simply not up to par. I found myself skipping half of the first chapter because it was so odd and weird I didn't even want to read it.
