Overall, I like it. It did take a lot of chapters to really get a feel for what exactly was going on. It definitely takes at least a passing understanding of Chinese culture, specifically filial piety, to get through the early stuff. Also kowtowing, punching down, face-slapping and such. The background mysteries are pretty interesting. You genuinely want things to work out for the lead - and her slow warming wife - even if Meixiu's methods of going about things stay on a continuously confusing line of "I'm keeping my secrets for reasons, just believe they are good ones".
