To be honest, I am not sure how there are tons of reads on this one. They forced they lady in her sophomore yr of college to marry a man 8 yrs older than him. The girls family didn't have a choice because the guys family cannot be offended and the guys father pressured the girls family into marriage. It's well written. It's well translated. It's an okay story. I just can't get over the fact that this is a forced a marriage and it all begins because the parents felt intimidated in the butler was just too polite so they had no chance to say no.... why would the author even go this route? Just write the parents as evil who are selling their daughter for a profit. or write them as absolutely going against this marriage and protesting to protect their daughter and they come up with a better excuse for why their daughter would agree like a fat paycheck or something. these constant stories that are supposed to take place in the modern day of people being forced to get married or just reinforcing ridiculous stereotypes about China in general and are trying to romanticize purchasing a woman as a sexual commodity in order to breed her..
