I ve read to chapter 12 and skipped to some further chapters and honestly I'm quite frustrated. What's the point of having a 'first life' and reincarnating in this novel. It feels like it's put there for the sake of having the word 'reincarnation' in the tags, we hardly get to see the Mc's feelings or ambitions from his previous life, what are his regrets? What's moral and immoral for him? There's a reason why most of these novels spend a great deal at building the mc's backstory. I'm pretty the author would explore the mc's personality further in future chapters using flashbacks or whatever, but at that point people would stop caring about his previous life

SO TRUE most novels don't need the reincarnation in their stories at all most of the time it's just an excuse to give the mc some kind of op ability that of course only he has beacuse of his past life they rarely show other aspects of their lives like their regrets and morals like you mentioned and even most of those rare few that talk about their past life only really focus like one chap or a few sentences on their past life? like how many novels are there that just say "his/her only regret was not being strong enough" they never mention anything past that like traumas or addictions i just find it sad that most novels just use the reincarnation factor to make the readers relate easier with the characters because the authors could even squeeze more chapters out of their story if they run out of ideas instead of just adding some filler i mean a character doesn't always need to be relateable like rudeus from mushoku tensei, he is one of the most disgusting mcs i have ever experienced but still he is human and he has his own morals from his past life he doesn't just kill everyone and everything because he can and because he is human he öearns from his mistakes and as the volumes go on he becomes more and more acceptable until he finally matures mentally the author of mushoku tensei actually incorperated the reincarnation aspect really cleverly because even if rudeus died during his thirties you could argue that he never really matured past his highschool years the reason I think the auther was very clever is beause rudeus' serves reincarnation the purpose to make him finally grow up mentally and it makes sense plotwise why he reincarnates into a dark fantasy world because with his character if he reincarnated into a modern one he wouldn't need to mature/be able to and the author uses this fact and incorperates it nicely into his story. sorry for this short(extremely long) rant about reincarnation novels which totally didn't take me 30 minutes to write at this point I don't even know why I did that

honestly think most reincarnation tags are just so MC has a reason for being able to act like adult as a child

Most readers like mature protagonists, not fresh cookies from the oven. That's the whole purpose of reincarnation. People don't care about the protagonist's past life.

and then they still act like a child
