This novel takes an old premise (Mysterious multi-dimensional tower) and puts a unique spin on it. The protagonist is summoned off-world to a planet participating in a Tower competition. The most fatal flaw of this novel is tone. The slapstick antics of Josh Malum are not nearly as funny as the author thinks they are. And a memo to future writers, if you are going to create an "assassin" type character, do a little research on the subject. The more famous underworld hitman in history do not have the personalities of goofy teenagers playing COD. If you want your characters to have combat experience and still be this immature, you can make them aspiring mma fighters, or a soldier on his 1st deployment. I understand authors can take some liberties but I cant count the amount times Josh Malum internal monologues and external dialogue took me right out of the story. Murdering the amount of people Josh supposedly has should not result in a person as flippant and unserious as he is. Anyways when you have a protagonist as cringeworthy as Josh Malum, it is tough to appreciate the other aspects of this novel. I won't say that this novel is unreadable but I think that only people who can resonate with this author's comedic sensibilities will be able to truly enjoy it.

I wouldn't want the author to change Malums personality either I just think his personality would match that of a teenager who has experience in self-defense training rather than the overused isekai'd assasin. Also, the term "emo" applies to kids in goth who project a dark, depressed aura because they have no identity yet. Some real world assasins, a part of underworld syndicates, can be described as brooding because of the multiple homicides they committed but never emo. Look up the life and times (also interviews)of the famous hitman "Popeye" of the Medellin Cartel. Or "Sammy the Bull" Gravano. Josh Malum's background doesnt jive with his current behavior. Essentially the author grafted this backstory on to Josh Malum in order to legitimize his combat prowess in this isekai/tower setting. My only point in this long AF post is that there were other options to provide Josh Malum superlative combat skills. At the end of day the writer has the artistic license to create as paradoxical a character as they want. I actually liked the World and characters around Josh Malum...

yug_moto:This is a serious problem of the webnovel authors, they give a profession and personality that does not correspond with what they describe at the beginning of the story is very common here on this site, then this salad happens throughout the story.
