Unfortunately, it skews the ratings and makes it hard to judge what the novel is about and how good it is sometimes. Similar to when you see people spamming 5 stars for a horrible novel they haven't even read.

The ratings are all worthless anyway. Even the worst of books will still have over a 4.

Ratings are worthless because people make spam comments. Fix spam comments and you fix ratings as well.
