well, fanfics aren't illegal unless the author is directly selling them for money....like they are posting it for free but they are taking donations in pae__tron.....that's not considered copyright infringement....but if the author is directly monetizing it then it is a copyright infringement...like this one...

But here is the thing, in a fanfic you use all the settings from that game/novel with the SI/OC entering that world and following along with the main plot. Here the MC just uses the concept of the game. Calling this novel a fanfic is kind of a stretch.

well, characters of a game do fall under the copyrights of the gaming company. but if only concepts are used then the author can call it an original novel why fan fic
