No clue. I have not read this fanfic nor the original yet. I was going to take a shot and read this fanfic about it since I am not really interested in the original. I usually always ask who the romantic interest is in all fanfics I start reading.

since you havent read the original you wouldnt know but its a woman named Anri Teirei. there is little to no romance in the story RN. their relationship will progress after Blue Lock.

The author stopped it and deleted the series I think it had 4 chapters but the author I think decided to focus on blue lock. So i think he decided to stop the series
