2020 was a tough year for everyone. Even world leaders managed to catch covid. Travel restrictions, job losses and in some cases people weren't able to visit a dying loved one. It was tough for me as well and I didn't write at all for almost a year. Earlier this year I started to get interested in dao and the writings of Lao-Tze. It's funny because so many novels are based on cultivation which is a mythical version of daoism. Let's be clear - It's not a religion its a philosophy. There is no moral authority in daoism. And a story began to form in my mind. It twisted and evolved and as usual I took inspiration from many places. Whether they were Dresden files, or jujutsu kaisen but most of all it was writing a story with a character who truly learned to live going with the flow. As usual there are many surprises and the hero will build from weak to strong. Most of all I hope you find it interesting. I wish you all the best in 2021 and beyond.
