Is this even a review? How is having two novels from the same novel relevant to anything? The reason two novels from the same author are on the trial read list is because the author in question sold translation rights for both (and maybe more) of his novels to Qidian so they can choose to translate it. Part of the reason why trial read is bad is because authors don’t like to give up their intellectual property rights (and often for good reason), so the truly successful novels often don’t get translated since they would need to have rights purchased at a higher premium and there is no guarantee that an English-speaking audience would like them as much. It’s not because of propaganda or nationalism, if anything it’s because of capitalism. Remember that Qidian is a business, and they make capitalistic decisions for the sake of profit.
