I’m not sure how this novel is so highly rated. Just five chapters in, the author’s rock-bottom intelligence has turned this novel into an utter disaster. As they say, you can’t write someone to be more intelligent than yourself. So many inconsistencies, a ton of nonsensical bull****. Don’t waste your time if you can’t stand reading gibberish.

This is a super late reply, but seeing as how I'm coming back a month later just to reminisce on this novel because of its phenomenal world building disproves your statement. Sure the introduction is trash and the author could have chosen a better way to go about it, but afterwards everything was above average. World building was the best I'd seen in a while.

Oto:I can’t claim the entire novel has horrible execution, but I can say that the world building and introduction does. And from that, I can form an inference that the author is not the greatest and it doesn’t like too much of a reach to conclude that the rest of the novel isn’t exactly worth my time. As with all reviews, my opinion is just that, an opinion. But I think it’s better to be frank and honest about a review than to make claims aboit something you didn’t finish. In short, from what I read, the novel was quite bad. I ended up dropping the novel due to it. Therefore, I rated the novel poorly. The hook is just as important (if not more important) than the rest of the novel. It doesn’t matter whether someone read 5 chapters or 50. When you drop the novel, it’s because you didn’t enjoy it.

Good premise, terrible execution. Author should leave the sci-fi genre alone and write about something they can understand. I find it hard to believe that this author even graduated from middle school.

Get past the beginning and it’s a good novel

while i agree its very slow to start, 5 chapters isnt enough to judge a book.

How far into the novel would you say it gets better? Perhaps I’ll give it another go eventually but the start was really bad. It was an interesting premise, but from what I’ve seen from the author, pretty much ruined it. I didn’t drop the book because the story was boring, but rather because I lost faith in the author. I’m going to be honest here, it is really hard to do that in only five chapters.

How far in would you say I should read to before forming an opinion?

You can read as little as 1 chapter before forming an opinion, however that opinion shouldn’t generalize everything like you’ve concluded that the novel had a “horrible execution” while only being 5 chapters deep. At least read 15 chaps, 25% of the current chaps out before you make a claim like that

Ah I see. I hold the view that if the author doesn’t care enough to write the beginning properly and hook you into the story, the reader shouldn’t be obligated to care about the novel. I don’t generally lose interest in a novel that fast, especially when the premise is wuote interesting, but this author managed it which just goes to show how negligent they are. Then again, I’m also more picky than most.
