Not bad, but gets significantly worse as time goes on. In general the beginning was pretty good, the wishes were odd at first but they come together well later on, proving that the mc had a plan all along but as the story goes on, especially once the mc gets to VD:L it becomes significantly worse, characters (especially the mc) begin acting completely out of character, like they suddenly become different people. Very disappointing in general. Still at least the first 2/3's of the story is pretty good and worth your time even if that's not true for the last 1/3.

It's called character development. A concept rarely seen in the novels on this site, but it's one of the things that makes a story great. MC is not a template, he's a person. Hundreds of years old, ever growing person. You strike me as someone who likes action packed novels... well, action is in this novel too, but it's not completely action packed. The reason why MC is "acting out of character", is because his nature is getting gentler, nicer, more like a King. He doesn't have to fight as often because he has subordinates now, not to mention, he can make use of the people around him to do things for him. MC is traveling to different worlds to find good adventures for himself, to learn new things, to bring changes, to expand his empire, and leave his mark everywhere he goes. So you didn't like the later part of the story because the genera of the story changed. MC doesn't have many challenges anymore. Well, the story is deliberately written in such manner, MC has already achieved all that he wanted to, now he's just satisfying his curiousity and passion, and expanding his empire. That's it. If you don't like it, then there are plenty of other novels on this site, you don't have to stick around.
