I am here as a fan of the original source material, and I happen to also somewhat enjoy your work! :) As an author, let me give you some advice I wish I had when I started writing. Never ever allow readers to dictate where your story is going. Even if their intentions are pure, the story will fall apart unless the author is the one choosing what happens in the story. If you knew this already then you're a much better writer than me already! I hope to see more of this story, but don't feel pressured to release chapters, that's also "very" important!
