is this novel good? well no. is it bad? well somewhat. writing style is immature and there is wish fulfillment in it. trading between two worlds has been done better in some other novels. my main issue in this novel is with the trade. it is typical "chinese imaginary novel" trade. apart from weird chinese fascination with big d*cks of wild animals, prices are totally out there cause author doesnt know how real world works. selling unknown wine for 150k $ per 100mL just cause lab found tens of good herbal extracts in it? first it is made from fruits from another world. i doubt that lab would be able to identify beneficial or harmful substance if it already wasnt in database. and if it is in database then it is not so rare to warrant 150k $ per 100mL. then we have titanium swords even though titanium sucks as weapon material. i even doubt prices of titanium and its processing are real cause author didnt bother to research anything else in the novel. overall premise has potential, but it is badly done in the novel.

in chapter 19 "talking with dad" he agreed to sell 10 tonnes of red sandal wood to his father who then in chapter 21 "nonsense trading" agreed to buying the red sandal wood at 800,000 rmb which when converted to usd is 113k. I also found an article stating at a sandalwood auction held in Marayur India, top quality red sandal wood was being sold at Rs 7,100 lakhs which when multiplied by 2000 and converted into usd equals 187k. these prices aren't far off and reasonable considering that a.) The Mc is selling sandal wood at the lowest market price because its his father b.)He's selling in a huge bulk so he's gonna be giving a discount c.) The red sandal wood referenced in real life is top quality which would be more expensive than high quality so to be honest I feel like the pricing of the red sandal wood is in fact incredibly reasonable. To address your second point, the lab didn't identify what the wine was made out of, rather they looked into the amino acids in the wine and found that it was in fact so nutritious that you could die from excess nutrition if you drank to much. It's basically steroids for your body thats on steroids, and on top of that completely healthy. AND ITS WINE, **** man there are wines out there that are 200k plus usd and are just normal alcohol, imagine being able to drink and getting healthier because of it, that's actually insane and he's under pricing it because he has plenty to sell and needs people to be able to afford it. (this is probably not his intent but I feel like it would be cause So I feel like the pricing for the wine is also completely reasonable. I will however completely agree with you on the fact that the author has a lack of knowledge regarding weapons and seems to be influenced by mainstream tropes and misconceptions, in particular when he refers to the fuller as a blood gutter and describes it draining out the blood of the enemies they stabbed with it my immersion was kind of destroyed. Aside from the authors lack of research and understanding of weapons I feel like the execution of the premise in this novel was actually done pretty well, they introduced us into this world from an interesting location where the mc can fully abuse his ability to travel between worlds and not have to deal with stupid amounts of plots and scheming. The characters are developed alongside with the Mc's understanding of them and the mc feels like an ordinary person placed into this scenario rather than a genius or some other gimmicky character quirk. Overall I would give in a 4.5/5

there are 20 amino acids that are needed for human body to function and they are all readily available in food that we eat. while a factor that can increase the price, it is not a factor that will increase the price to such heights. e.g you will not pay extra for a wine that has vitamin c, cause you easily get them from citrus fruits. it may be a plus to marketing and can increase markup a little, but you wont price it at 100k $ per bottle cause of it. also 150k $ for 100mL wine, or 1.5 million US$ for 1L of wine that is essentially poison if you drink too much. also most of the expensive wines are expensive cause they are old and rare and famous, not cause they taste good. 90% of them are from around ww2 or older and are famous for one reason or another. i dont have a problem if he priced it at that if there was a reasonable plot development where effectiveness of the wine was proven to the outside world. but with just one lab result that has few amino acids and that you could die with excess consumption? that is not reasonable. also what about other substances? it is fruit from another world after all. could you really say wine is safe if it contains unidentifiable substances?

In chapter 18 "Testing results are back" the mc's parents tell him that the wine has various elements that improve the human body but not limited to amino acids, the mc cuts off his mother and asks for a simpler explanation so we only have a few excerpts that talk about what would make this wine so healthy. One of them being, "There are more than ten types of precious herbs ingredients in it, which can exceed the quantity the human body can take. Too much of this wine and you'll die, from excess nutrition" This is literally wine so healthy and good for you that it will kill you. Hell you're not even recommended to drink more than 30 ml once a day to be safe, one bottle would last you 25 days if you drank it daily which is kinda crazy. And I can't seem to find anything that indicates that the substances are unknown, just because it's a different world doesn't mean that the fruits are completely different, if a plot point around them having Qi enriched fruits became a thing I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. In Chinese culture they're is a lot of emphasis placed on the naturalness of herbal medicine that would make it more appealing to the rich even if it had unidentified elements. In the modern world one of the things that many rich people do that a lot of people can't is focus on eating natural and healthy foods. Its just a dietary value in some cultures and societies including ours, while it might not be this exaggerated in ours, I can definitely see this being a possibility in China. Aside from the cultural values of herbal medicine and treatments surrounding it, I don't feel like that markup would be that much of a stretch, in fact there are 2 ways it would probably make the buyers want to buy it more. I know I'm branching a bit into psychology here but a.) there's a commercial trick done for sales, where items are marketed at a higher price than they would be so that customers believe that they're buying it at a steal when there are in reality buying it for it's market price. In this case because the mc now has a monopoly on a delicious, healthy, and strong wine, so he sets the market price higher up, and when people try to bargain with him he can give them a slight discount and make them think that they're getting a good deal and feel pressured to buy it. b.) Being able to buy this wine would also become a status thing, you would gain the ability to flaunt to your friends that you drink a wine that's better in every way to theirs which is a common trope in Chinese novels that focus on the rich such as this one.

overnutrition is poison. everything in excess quantities can be a poison. and passage you are quoting is one of the passages that i have a problem with. what are those precious herbal ingredients? do they exist in real world? if they exist then wine could be replicated thus not warranting the price, if not how do they know that it is precious? also one of the main theories in chinese medicine is that everything can be a cure and a poison. e.g. if you have iron deficiency, having pills with it can cure you, but if you have normal body, taking pills with excess iron can lead to iron poisoning. although example is not in chinese medicine same theory applies to it with precious herbs like ginseng. and i understand marketing and psychology, but when old man stops you in front of the house and asks to buy wine from you and you tell him give me 1.5mil $ for 1L of the wine??? that is not reasonable. there is no status, there is no bargain, people havent even tried it (except mc and his family). that is why i said if there was reasonable plot development i wouldnt mind the price. if mc first gave free sample to old man and when effectiveness was proven, and then when song yi asked if he could buy it, then overpricing would be reasonable. but selling wine that nobody has tried and with one dubious lab testing for a price that is over 3 times most expensive wine ever sold (at charity auction) is not reasonable.

Kid gains ability to travel to another world with beasts, barbarians, and cultivation (probably). Review from chapter 39. Very minor spoilers. Haven’t done a review in a while so let’s do this. At will, our MC can travel to the other world and bring stuff with him. With a world full of precious goods and the title of the novel, I’m sure you can connect the dots. I feel the novel focuses mostly on comedy so far. Don’t expect serious conversation between characters. There will be banter and stuff being done. We don’t know too much about the other world. The synopsis tells us there are pills and artifacts. We learn that there is cultivation but haven’t seen it. There are unknown plants and animals similar to ones on Earth. They can all probably kill you. And of course, humans. We know there are villages dotted around and I think towns and clans too. Not sure about the clans. MC ain’t too smart, ain’t too dumb. Cutting him a lot of slack for his actions though. He’s a bit shameless as every MC needs to be for some reason but also acts according to his age when in the other world. Everything is alien to him so it’s all understandable. The characters aren’t annoying at all since interactions are mostly comedic in both worlds. His dad is kinda eh though. There is a possible love interest but the way it’s playing out is making me unsure. It might be or it might be for comedy. We’ll see. I don’t know what the future holds for us. New stuff happens right after chapter 39 where he’s going somewhere new. He’s already done quite a lot of things by chapter 39 but he probably will cultivate and/or establish himself in the other world in the future. I can’t make a lot of guesses cause I’m too poor. Good read. Annnddd it’s 7 AM, time for bed.

Despite rating the novel as a 3.0/5.0, the novel isn’t actually all that bad. I’m currently on chapter 622 in the MTL, and apart from a certain few things, the novel isn’t too bad of a read. SLIGHT SPOILERS BELOW Below are a few of the major problems with the novel: *** 1. The author is an idiot. If you can get past things like the author not knowing the color of the sun, basic-level arithmetic, not knowing that San Francisco is not in Los Angelos, and how the world works in general, you won’t suffer too much. The author likes to use fallacies a lot, so sometimes you just have to skip over it and keep reading. *** 2. The author is extremely racist and chauvinistic (genocide level racism) Up until chapter 250 or so, I didn’t really see too much, but all of the sudden it became extremely perverse. When the MC went to the US, he said “all Americans deserve to die” and released a gigantic beast into the middle of Hollywood to wreak havoc. This later gets even worse when the MC goes to Japan, where he goes off on another racist genocide. This is probably the most blatant, perverse chauvinism I’ve seen in a webnovel, and that’s pretty hard to beat. At times, it’s minimal, and at other times, it’s every paragraph. *** 3. The author can’t write any ‘arc’ or event without something going awry, and each time that thing takes up 20-40 chapters. In short, a lot of filler. The author writes that he wants to the store? You know that something is going to happen on the way to the store. *** Despite all of these detriments, the novel isn’t all that bad. It’s just brought down by the author’s intelligence. Regarding the perverse chauvinism, I’m assuming the author’s novel started to drop in popularity, and wrote like that in order to get in the ‘good books’ to get their work promoted more.
