The draw of time travel novels is the idea that the mistakes of the time traveler could be unraveled and the addition of foresight 20/20. The ultimate cheat to win at life. From a writer's perspective, it already gives the MC recognizable goals and obstacles from the get-go. Also a cheat to win at writing, ahahah! Who doesn't want that? CEO Vengeful Wife is a romance and that sort of time travel. The first two chapters is a soft introduction, though I think it's unnecessary. The impact would have been greater if the first chapter were Jing Lihua walking into the company and immediately striking like a thunderbolt. That's not to say that a soft intro is a bad thing. I just prefer a more cohesive beginning. In terms of pure fun, the story does deliver. The FL Jing Linghua starts to show her strong personality and the future she remembers starts going off the rails. She finds that things she thought were truths are shaky and that she must change her thinking and herself to adapt. These are the best kinds of characters. In terms of romance, it's a slow burn of hide and seek, with the ML doing the whole mysterious shadow schtick. There's a history between them, of the best kind, and Jing Lihua now has to grapple with forgotten memories and the ML's enemies. A lot of action in this romance, a lot of elements. Can he win her again to his side when she doesn't remember him, when she knows that during her first life he never showed up? Can she allow herself to love again, after the graphic betrayal of learning that her first love, the man she married, had been plotting for years to destroy her family? There's only one way to find out, isn't there?
