I don't recommend this novel to the people of the Science Fiction community. The main reason for that is that it is unrealistic. You might find that funny, but it is very important. A story, any story, must have some kind of base ground to stand on or the readers won't be able to understand and make comparisons to it. A story is only a comparison to the readers current life experience to the life experience of the characters in the story. What this means is that in order for a reader to understand a story, they have to have at least some similarities. I truthfully wouldn't mind this novel if it had some semblance of seriousness in it's writing. If it was more realistic it'd probably be a very good read. The way it is now, not so much. The writing itself is counterproductive to the story it's trying to tell. Last human in existence, last man alive, yet for some reason there's no suspense, no *******, no reality to the story. It has no depth, and that's because the author decided to add a C3PO to it for slapstick comedy purposes. Some people might look at the A.I. in the story and it's character interactions with the main characters and say that the author wrote it to act such a way to give some kind of psychological relief to the characters themselves. That the characters are in such a serious situation that some outside help is required to prevent a mental breakdown. I would say that they're grasping at straws. I would say that for one simple reason, the slapstick comedy isn't designated only to the robot AI. If that was the case then I'd kind of agree with that line of thinking, but it isn't. A prime example of this is the fact that the first thing the MC thinks about when he hears that the earth was destroyed is that he's still a virgin. This is in the context of the main characters first internal monologue. Our first "meeting" with the character we're going to be spending the rest of the novel with. It's what sets the tone for the entire story. It makes a very poor first impression. I could go on, but stopped reading at chapter 7. I couldn't rationalize the story any longer. If the reader cannot insert themselves into the story, into the situation the main character is in and rationalize the decision making that the character is making then that constitutes a failure of writing in my honest opinion. This goes back to the first part of this review, there has to be some kind of middle ground between the reader and the story. A bridge that allows the reader to understand and "imagine" themselves into the situation the main character finds themself in. All of this being said, for serious readers of science fiction, this novel is probably not for you, it's lacking in rational decision making. If you're just looking for something to pass the time, there are worse things to read, at least until it goes premium and everyone drops it.

Chrysalis is very good, though I have my fair share of issues with RhinoZ as well. One of my all time favorites is Martial Arts Master. It probably has one of the absolute best romances of all time. Some other novels I recommend that might not be on this website are: Monarch of Evernight, I Shall Seal The Heavens, Throne of Magical Arcana, Book Eating Magician, The Second Coming of Gluttony, Stellar Transformations. If I had to rank them, then Stellar Transformations and I Shall Seal The Heavens were the most entertaining for me to read once I got into them. They're both very large and intimidating though. The Second Coming of Gluttony is fairly new and has been having a lot of licensing issues along with the translator switching groups repeatedly, they're currently in a lull while the license agreement is finalized, it should start up again any day now and until then there are already 160 fully translated chapters uploaded. I'd also recommend Perfect World, it's a novel where the main character starts out as a young child. No isekai, transmigration or old grandpa's in his head. It's a good story but the character itself gets very unlikable after a while. There are a lot of good novels out there, but the ones I've mentioned above do not fall into the realm of science fiction.

That was really helpful. Sci fi is the only genre that I can't digest, if done improperly.

I don't know about chrysalis. I'm about halfway into the novel and I would not recommend it. Credit to the author with the world building, minimal grammar error, but the mc and the plot just drive me insane. The only reason the mc is alive is due to him being shelter by a nuclear vault plot armor. The evolution choices just pisses me off, it's like the author looked at the comment section and avoid what people want. It happens every time so I'm pretty sure he does it now. Everytime, the audience is given info on the evolutions possible with some really strong and cool ones, the author make the mc choose the most illogical and boring one in the next chapter. Might as well not have given the options then author. It's like your father said he would buy a gift for you, between a computer, phone, and a light bulb, you asked for the phone because even though you really wanted the computer because it's more mobile and clearly come on who would choose the light bulb, your dad says "okay, son I heard you wanted the phone and the computer was a closed one" and chooses the fucking light bulb. The author also made me hate his "special" character immediately. The tiny ant is so annoying. Tldr: the mc act like a ****ty isekai character (most isekai are ****ty anyway. shrug)

I will admit that humor of "I'm still a virgin"was not a good start but for me who sadly had seen so many novels and anime such as "that time I got reincarnated as a slime" but it was alright anime so yeah a lot of novels so I instinctively just bypassed the humor 😤 that's all no debates or anything don't worry people can have different opinions also chrysalis is good we can agree on that yay 😊

You sound like you're sour that the author didn't do what 'you' wanted with 'his' story. Why should an author write or change a story and make it deviate from his/her own plans by giving in to the readers' demands? A lot of good works have been ruined that way you know?

I do agree with your post for this English version. Just some info about this book in it's original language. This book is originally written by a Chinese writer, and published with his native language Simplified Chinese. I have read the Chinese version back in 2020. In my opinion, this translation to English is too straightforward and naive to show the literal beauty and proper humor in the original language. Some people mentioned about the joke of "still a virgin". Firstly, if you read the fiction in Chinese and you know Chinese, you will find the context is actually not the same to this English version. Also, in current Chinese internet, this joke about "virgin" is actually a common "humor". Such kind of humor are present in both recent Chinese and Japanese fictions. I would say the book in it's original language has proper humor as well as great visual description. About the realisticity, if you read the book in Chinese version, you will find there are 4 more Chapters in the beginning, contains the bibliography. I just went back and did a count, there are totally 219 papers/reports referenced, mostly from Chinese studies and a few from NASA. The topics covered many different fields, such as astrophysics, botany, geology, and even food science. I also believed the author showed his analysis/calculation to answer some questions from readers in the Chinese app, I did not do a decent check, but seems reasonable in my first opinion. I don't know how this translation comes, but it is really suck, I wish one day the writter can find a real fiction translator to work on this.
