The sheer amount of smoking is unhealthy in this novel. All male leads smell like stale tobacco but according to author it's actually light and minty and masculine. This novel is not recommended for nonsmokers.

LIKEI’ve noticed this as well. I feel like the newer stories are slowly getting rid of the smoking. Which hallelujah. I dated smokers. Only one who became my hubby never ever smelled like smoke. I didn’t even realize he was a smoker until a year into our relationship. Yea I know. Crazy. and I can sniff smoke out like a. Bloodhound. Meh 19 years later and he hasn’t smoked since that first year. Lol.
Yea you were most of chinese novel are and I guess this is their way of promoting cigarettes lol. Simple way of advertising tobacco hahaha.
Cantiara:For some reasons, most Chinese romance authors really think smoking makes their Male characters cool and making them hold a cigarette oozes manliness.

the tobacco industry is one of the largest sources of tax revenue for the Chinese government. Over the past decade, the tobacco industry has consistently contributed 7-10 percent of total annual central government revenues...
Miya:lowkey i actually dropped a lot of novels because of the same issue. what the hell is going on with chinese society promoting smoking and cigarette to the younger generation as a cool and charismatic activity. well, the fact of the matter is, it's not so they should get a grip
Is this true? Why would that be i wonder.. JR Morgan and friends are all so white ‘elite’ reptiles - or are they kickbacks and bribes to get government to push smoking on the general population? Mm, that would make sense. Funny how there is such unity and non-descrimination in the upper circles of greed of all nations.
