Review Detail of Sinfish in Solo Leveling(Only I Level Up)

Review detail

Perhaps the dullest level-up game system novel I have read out of dozens, there's absolutely nothing here you haven't read before if you've read half a dozen in the genre. To be frank, I read the first forty chapters a couple of days ago, and I could not remember the plot until I opened it to refresh myself. The MC's personality is wildly inconsistent and he keeps doing dumb things that plot armor saves him from. For example, he gets a key to open up an S-rank dungeon, thinks to himself, "only a team of S-ranks can clear S-rank dungeons", then goes in and almost dies to the first monster and only doesn't by sheer and utter luck that it's in the only class of monster he gets a buff against. His system has an automatic growth cheat, which is a big problem, because he gets stronger every day with minimal effort... but he still goes off an risks his life for no reason at all, because he has no unusual motivation to do anything. He's almost died half a dozen times in the first 30 chapters, and there's no reason for him to, because he literally gets stronger every single day, and again, he has zero motivation for risking his life. Also, literally every other person he runs into is a villain out to kill people. This is absurd, because they essentially live in a near-future S. Korea and society and the superhumans are supposed to be well-regulated. He's spent his entire life being a bottom-rank loser and hasn't died, yet as soon as he gets super-powers all of a sudden everyone he runs into is trying to murder people. It all feels like a barely coherent freshman author attempt in an over-saturated genre, and I just can't understand why this story is rated highly at all.

Nah, looks like your opinion is trash from here with not a single substantive point.

The_Lost_Traveller:Have you read more than the first 40 chapters? I have read most of the light novel, and have finished reading all there is of the manhwa (up to chapter 136, which is approximately equivalent to the light novel's chapter 165). If you have finished the light novel, then I apologise, but judging by the fact that you did post this review, I doubt you have. For you to have such shallow opinions about the MC, you have not read much of the LN or the manhwa. Like many stories -- especially like this one where the MC begins weak -- it starts off moderately slow. If the MC was OP from the start, it would most likely be very boring. When he entered the S-Rank dungeon, he was unsure of its difficulty, but wanted to test his strength against strong monsters. While he did defeat it with some difficulty and a bit of luck, he still defeated it. Besides, of course it's the "plot armour" that saves him. What kind of good series would it be if the MC dies too early? (It would be too much of a stretch to bring him back to life in such a situation). For a story to have a good plot, practically every big moment has to have a future impact, unless it is a final battle. In the start of the series, it is quite easy for him to level up, obviously. And seeing as you are so knowledgeable about the level-up game system genre, surely you would understand that it becomes harder to progress the higher your level is. And of course he almost dies a lot. He only recently gained the system, and he had not levelled up very much, seeing as all the experience he had gained at that point was from exercise and whatever dungeons he raided (and even they were low-level). As he gets stronger, of course he runs into more dangerous people. "Where there is great power there is great responsibility." - Winston Churchill As he gains levels, of course he will have to fight stronger foes, and have to face those -- monsters and humans alike -- with malintent. As you read further in the series, many of the things you have identified as problems or weaknesses in the story are answered, are given reasoning. The further you read on, the inconsistencies in the beginning are remedied. As such, a lot of your criticisms for Solo Leveling are meaningless. In my opinion, from what I have read of the LN, the manhwa is much more interesting and engaging, so if you disliked the LN that much, I recommend you go and read the manhwa. This time, read further than the first 40 chapters and then form your opinion. I can say that by posting your review, you have not read very much of the story at all. There are many opinions in this world, obviously, and you are of course entitled to your own, but why would a LN/manhwa that is not even of slightly good quality be turned into an anime (as I'm sure you can understand, not many Korean and Chinese manhwas are adapted into an anime). Obviously it is seen as -- at the very least -- a good series by many, for it to be adapted as such. By saying that you believe that the creator of Solo Leveling is a "barely coherent freshman author", does that make you a barely coherent freshman reviewer/reader? I don't know, but by the fact that you decided to review a series without even completing it, and pointed out inconsistencies that are later solved, shows that you did not see the full story. Sorry for the long review, but I felt that I needed to point out that you're wrong (as well as many of those who replied in agreeance to this review). Aside from the bad translation from qidian, I cannot see much wrong at all with this series. Go read the full thing before posting your opinion on the internet next time (also go read the manhwa). If you made it this far, congratulations. For what, I don't know. But anyways, thanks for reading this, or whatever. See ya.

Wrong. It's still one of the best. Try reading all of it. Not only is it a complete novel, it also has no inconsistencies. Plot, 'reason', everything is dictated by logic and thoughts we get to actually read. Do yourself a favor and don't comment next time you plan to post something negative

Yes, there were some inconsistences in the start of the novel, and some characters were underdeveloped, but most of them and all of them described above are explained in the novel. Go read chapter 220.

I couldn't agree more. There is no character development at all! MC's character is too weak, he is a slave of his own powers.

Chapter 40 ain't reach the depth imho. But everyone have their own taste. So it's understandable for some it's not their cup of tea

No, just no. It has already consumed many of my brain cells just to comprehend the magnitude of the Mc’s stupidity and dumb-**** luck, just no.

You misunderstood. As what he said in those earlier chapters "this is what the system needs, a stronger version of myself" , "the system uses me, the i will use the system"

after his second revaulation, he becomes badass although he is super dense in terms of women its better than a pussy mc who gets used by women and cat stand up for himself

He saw more enemies because as he leveled up the end of time got closer. Him becoming stronger was a sort of catalyst. Therefore, please fully understand a novel before giving it a reckless review. Also, I think his actions are well articulated in the story. I haven’t read the web novel version, yet but the previous one was an amazing story.

Well, that has a lot of time now, but I just finish to read that novel now and I really suggest you to re-read it. The story turn way better on the middle and its turn to be very original, in addition to have a perfect ending, what's rare on that tipe of novel. Just give it a chance, I guarantee that you will not regret.
