THIS IS AN ACTUAL REVIEW WITH DETAILS AND SUMMARY. READ IT. IF YOU WANT TO GET TO THE REVIEW, SKIP THIS PARAGRAPH. First, I would like to say that this novel deserves a higher rating than it currently has. Why? Because several people have left one-star reviews, claiming that the other novel in the "What's Next" section had more reviews. This is not true! Also, the original novel is NOT DROPPED. These rumors have been propagated by one single user who has also been leaving hate comments and abuse. Now, onto business. Overall Summary: I've only read to chapter 10, the latest chapter released, but it seems pretty good so far. The basic premise is that there is a character, named Lin Yun, living during the apocalypse. It's a magic world, but they used up all of the mana, and now there is none left, and their world is ravaged by disasters. The main character is originally from Earth. However, this seems unneeded as it is not relevant to the story in any way as far as I can tell. Lin Yun is struck by a mysterious phenomenon, causing them to transmigrate into the body of one Mafa Merlin, a 9th Rank Magic Apprentice. Mafa belongs to a trading company called the Flashing Gold Chamber of Commerce, and is very wealthy. However, his father was with their fleet of ships transporting several extremely valuable goods when a storm struck and sunk the fleet, killing his father and bankrupting the Flashing Gold Chamber of Commerce. Artemis Fowl, anyone? Now, creditors are coming to collect, but Mafa has no money to give them. Lin Yun, however, retains the knowledge of his two past lives, and is aware of several advanced techniques that would not exist for centuries, allowing him to advance into a 1st Rank Mage. And I can't reveal any more without spoilers! Yay! Translation Quality: 5/5: Not much to say here. Good grammar, slightly odd sentence structure, but that could be more due to the original style than the translator's style. Thanks for translating this, Shiraishi! Stability of Updates: 5/5: This one I can't really judge, since we haven't had any updates, but the original mass release (10 chapters) was enough to get a basic idea of the storyline, and apparently there will be 14/Chapters per Week, or 2/Chapters per Day. Thanks for translating, again, Shiraishi! Story Development: 2/5: Unfortunately, I'm going to have to give this one a 2/5. Why? Because there's not really a plot. Yes, I am perfectly aware that I have only read 10 chapters and that there is probably an actual plot. Here's the problem. The MC is insanely OP. He's aware of advanced techniques, looks like an alchemy genius, and so forth. That's the problem with so much future knowledge. Additionally, there is so much FACE-SLAPPING! Like, so much of it. It's the equivalent of... let's imagine you're in a technology competition. There's a really rich kid competing with you who has gotten this far on money alone. But now, he has to compete based solely on his skill... and he produces the technology needed to go faster than lightspeed. This is through no fault of your own, the problem is that the kid is from the future and knows how to build stuff that comes in several centuries. Do you see the problem? Now, let's say the... government wants his stuff. Unfortunately, the kid can also build giant mechas, plasma cannons, interstellar ships, and even technology that can stop a nuke. That's what the equivalent of this is. There's not going to be much of a plot because the MC is just THAT OP. Character Design: 4/5: This one's a bit hard to judge, since we've only seen about five different characters, including the MC. The MC himself is not that well-developed so far, but it's sort of funny to watch him drool over really common items since they don't exist far into the future. Going back to our earlier example, it's like the kid drooling over seeing a piece of wood. Maybe trees don't exist in the far future! Then, we have Raymond, the son of the old caretaker/housekeeper. He's a 5th Rank Mage who gets face-slapped by the MC. Then, Raymond is all, OMG, you're amazing, I'm gonna follow you around. He ends up getting amazing (to him) rewards from the MC, but the sad part is that the MC doesn't even notice... next comes the "uncle." Have you ever seen that trope where the family relative tries to take the MC's stuff after the parents die? Yeah. That's him, and he's the main reason that Character Design is losing a star. World Background: 5/5: Again, not much so far, but it's pretty well developed. It's a world called Noscent, and personally, I think the whole, "running out of mana" thing is very interesting. The ranking system goes like this: Magic Apprentice --> Mage --> Great Mage --> High Mage --> Archmage. They have something similar for other jobs as well, like Alchemist. In the beginning, we also get some fun background info about what wrecked the world, and later in the book, about other cities and countries, and so forth. Overall, this is pretty good, but there is likely to be a lot of face-slapping and MC being OP, so if you don't like this sort of thing, don't read it! I can't speak as to romance because we haven't even seen any female characters yet, so I don't know if there is romance. Also, Shiraishi is a very good translator! Thanks! I personally am going to keep reading this. Upvote this comment if you liked it so that more people can get ACTUAL reviews and not just random five-star or one-star reviews.

Hey, so your saying author can't balance the future knowledge and the challenges MC needs to face? There are a lot of CN with similiar trope which do well, how is this one in comparison? (I think Reinacanrtion of StrongestSword King is ok/good, Human Emperor is also quite good, Emperor Domination is like one of the top best I think - aside from repitition)

Night Ranger was also very good

No, I’m not saying that. I do, in fact, greatly enjoy RSSG (haven’t read the others). However, can you really dispute the face-slapping part? Martial whatever, Overwhelming Smile, Blackwater, Dragon-Phoenix Pavilion, and so forth. Back to the earlier example, the problem isn’t that he can build interstellar ships and mechas, the problem is that he can spend $10 or whatever currency you use at the store to buy some copper wire and batteries to build a mecha. He can make the stuff so easily with such little cost that’s so OP compared to what they have, there’s not much of a challenge. I’m still going to read it though! I’m personally prefer RSSG for my OP MC novel fix just because at least there’s challenges. Like with the Dark Arena Arc (most recent one, they’re going back in) at least it’s a challenge for them, or the MC’s money problems, he might be rich, but at least he can’t just pull Mana Crystals out of his pocket with no effort.

Oh oops, sorry, I misunderstood your comment. Yeah, this one looks it the author might be able to, but I’m not sure (as mentioned in the earlier reply). Are those other novels you suggested any good? Also, I would try this one, and if you don’t like it, don’t read it.

RSSG feels truly like a fix/drug, needed to read lmtl for a bit because I couldn't get enough until I realised that the pattern repeats and repeats and repeats .... it's not me, it's the novel .... I didn't drop it, but I consciously try to avoid it because it's just a viscious cycle (compliment to the author, he has truly mastered his craft of never ending cliches/tropes/arcs), but thanks for the info. Maybe you have read Shadow Hack, but I dropped that after a hundred chaps or so because his cheat made him obviously op and the lack of challenges turned me off so I will rather skip this CN and invest my time with sthm else. Maybe the other next week is better :)

the initial idea sounds interesting/similiar to other types of CN. I just wonder if it's more of the same or worse. If there isn't any challenges, there won't be suspense and it could get boring rather quickly. 'Records of the human emperor' has a similr reincarnation start and future knowledge built up. The unique point is its setting and maybe genre. Feels like history and military genre and plays in an alternate ancient china world. It's enjoable but has the same repetitiveness like all the other after some while. 'Emperor Domination' is highyl recommendable. Has also the same weaknesses as the others, genre is Xianxia, MC doesn't have future but past knowlege (same cheat just in blue) If RSSG is fast food (which it is) then ED is 5 star cooking. Very luxirious and tasty for the eyes to read. The language is also very unique (unique amongst Xxianxia even I think). MC is super duper wuper arrogant and OP but in a funny satisfying way. Challenges are also there but MC manages them with a slap. He has a harem but he isn't really interested in women (his mind is jillions of eras old) and the world itself is a huge mystery and it takes a long time until things foreshadowed in the beginning are explained later on. Favourite quote:" If I claim second, nobody dares claim first!" "I am Li Qiye!" "Can't reach the Apex."

Yeah... I feel you there. The basic pattern can be summed up into: Shi Feng knows where treasure is. Claims treasure. Makes friend with big shot (i.e Aqua Rose, Gentle Snow, Phoenix Rain, Midnight Tea Party (I’ve never realized how ridiculous these names are until now)) while claiming treasure. About three filler chapters of what to do with the treasure. Gets into fight with a major power. Uses treasure against major power. Everybody is amazed. Forget about treasure or it was a onetime use treasure. Rinse and repeat. But yeah, it’s like fast food, 3/Chapters per Day, not good quality, bad for you, but you can’t stop eating it. Also, thanks, I’ll try out ED.

From the fast pace powerup and the high amount of faceslapping u mentioned(in just 10), is this like one of those dime a dozen childish empty novel?

No problem! I personally like it if I can find actual reviews and not just, “reet gud book read it blah blah blah to make up 140 words”

Hmm... I would say it’s better than most of them, if only because Raymond is willing to put aside his pride and acknowledge he was in the wrong, but the way it’s going, don’t expect it to have deeply fleshed-out characters and plot line. There does seem to be good world-building though, so there’s that!

I've read both of those stories and enjoyed them until they turned to rubbish.

"Here's the problem. The MC is insanely OP." Yeah this is going to be a problem for all the reasons the OC mentioned. I've read ahead until chapter 17 and the same guy who gives him trouble in chapter 13 comes and ~Visits~ the MC's newly renovated potion store. Can you guess happens? Of course you can! We all know what's going to happen because the Author is writing a Wuxia story through and through. Still going to keep in in my Library because this Translator does such a great job at adding in the extra details the other translator skipped over.

Yeah... I mean, if you’ve read *any* xianxia novels at all besides the REALLY good ones that are closer to quality fantasy, it’s pretty easy to predict the small events in almost any xianxia. Hmm.... main character goes from zero to hero? Probably going to be face-slapping. MC goes into some crazy ruins? Totally going to end up with the best treasure... and so forth. But yeah, Shiraishi is an AMAZING translator, especially compared to some others, and that makes it a lot better than it would have been.
