At first I thought the story was alright. Nothing spectacular. Nothing bad. Just your average enjoyable story. Pretty classic plot. Perhaps I noticed problems that others seem to skip over because I binge-read it. I think the first thing that started bothering me was that the story is mostly carried through conversation. This isn't pleasant to read. It doesn't allow us much insight to surroundings, time, background or thoughts of characters. Not to mention, surely your characters do something else, besides talking, which is relevant to the story. The second problem is the pace. It's really fast, but also really not. I didn't realize this problem at first because of how much had happend by this point (mainly conversations) so I assumed that in the story quite a bit of time had passed as well. That's when a character mentioned that only four days passed since the beginning of the story. At that point I was somewhere around chapter 80. It' pretty unforgivable to only have four days passing in 80 chapters. Especially because it would have worked perfectly well to have done the same thing in more time. It certainly felt like more time. In fact once I knew it was only about four days things started looking a bit unrealistic. This guy who had absolutely zero interest in his wife before has come to love her in four days. Love, not in love but love. That's a pretty quick chance especially for a guy that's supposed to have no clue about love because of his loveless childhood. These were definitely the main problems but another problem I had was that the author likes to dangle things, only to do absolutely nothing with it. There is the father-in-law who supposedly treats the main well. No mention of where he is but I'm guessing he's missing because I can't imagine why else the only person who visited her in the hospital besides her best friend isn't interested in seeing her when she's finally out of coma. (Also unrelated to this problem section but what kind of hospital allows patients to leave on the day they came out of a coma) Similarly we're told that she's actually from a powerful family but that her in-laws don't know this. Only for nothing to happen with said family. We don't even get in contact with them. This is only made worse by the main saying several times throughout the story that she's going to contact her mother. She never does. Please. Act. On. Your. Words. Don't dangle something like that in front of me for 80 chapters only to do nothing with it. Don't go mentioning something about a handsome fiancé when you can't even follow up on the family. Step by step. By actually taking those steps and not just talking about them. Alright. Now that I've mentioned everything that vexed me but also can be be improved. This isn't meant to be a hate review it's meant to be constructive. So let me congratulate you on the fact that all the friendly characters have a clear voice and personality. Definitely something to be proud about. The evil guys can use some more work because right now they're all just typical white lotuses.

Defy The Alpha(s)

Two centuries after the Great War, peace between humans and werewolves was finally achieved, or so everyone believes. Werewolves reign like gods, and humans remain blissfully unaware of their true place in the new world order. To maintain this fragile balance, each year, a handful of "lucky" humans are selected from various districts to attend Lunaris Academy, a prestigious institution that promises glory, status, and a chance to mingle with the elite. Those chosen are hailed as the lucky few, destined to marry powerful alphas and rise as luna. This year, Violet Purple is among the chosen, much to everyone's surprise. For an orphaned girl adopted by a disgraced prostitute, this is a golden ticket to a better life or so she's told. But Lunaris Academy isn’t the paradise it’s painted to be. Everything Violet and her fellow humans have been taught is a lie. Humans are far from equal; they're pawns in a much larger game. The academy is nothing but a gilded cage, and the students are lambs led to slaughter, playthings for the alphas to toy with in their ruthless games. To make matters worse, Violet catches the attention of the most dangerous players in this game, the Terror Four: the Alpha of the North, Alpha of the South, Alpha of the East, and Alpha of the West. Each one is more dangerous, more twisted, and more powerful than the last. But even among themselves, the alphas are divided, each with their own deadly ambitions. Yet, they all have their eyes on her. They expect Violet to play along, to fall in line like the others who worship at their feet, to break under their games. But Violet isn’t like the others. She refuses to bow. She’ll defy them all.

Hades' Cursed Luna

In a world where Lycans and werewolves are sworn enemies, Eve Valmont is a werewolf cursed by a prophecy and framed. Betrayed by her own pack and imprisoned for years, her fate takes a darker twist when she is offered to the Lycan King, Hades Stavros—a ruler feared for his ruthless conquests and deadly prowess. Bound by an ancient prophecy and haunted by the ghosts of her past, Eve is now at the mercy of the one being she should hate and fear the most—The Hand of Death himself. Hades, a king carved from blood and his own soul's decay, determined to avenge his family's slaughter and rid his people of the werewolves. He believes Eve is the key to his victory. To him, she is nothing but weapon foretold by prophecy, a tool he will wield to destroy the opposing forces threatening his pack. Yet, he finds himself craving this powerful yet broken woman. Leaving him questioning if she is truly his weapon or the one destined to unravel his carefully laid plans. *** He stalked toward me, a predator closing in on its prey, his eyes dark and unreadable. "So, you laugh?" His voice was low, dangerously soft, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I swallowed hard, suddenly aware of how difficult it had become to breathe. "Hades, I—" "But you only laugh at other men's jokes," he interrupted, his gaze piercing, devoid of any humor. "Not your husband's." The accusation in his tone was sharp, slicing through the air between us. A nervous chuckle escaped me. "You can't be serious... He’s your beta, for Goddess’ sake." In an instant, he closed the distance between us, so fast it left me breathless. His hands gripped my waist, pulling me flush against his body, the heat of him making my skin tingle. I gasped, but before I could say a word, his lips crashed onto mine, claiming my mouth with a force that sent shockwaves through me. The kiss was punishing, hungry—I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. When he finally pulled back, I was trembling, my chest heaving as I struggled to regain my breath. His eyes, dark and stormy, searched mine with a possessive intensity. "You can’t laugh at my jokes..." he whispered, his voice a dangerous rasp as his fingers trailed lower, sending a shiver down my spine, "but you’ll come with my fingers." I shivered, heat pooling low in my belly at his words, his touch. The world around us blurred, fading into nothing as his hand slipped lower, drawing a ragged gasp from my lips. The look in his eyes told me he knew exactly what he was doing to me, and there was no denying the primal connection between us in that moment. "I don’t need your laughter," he murmured against my skin, his breath hot on my neck. "I’ll have every other part of you instead." **** Dark fantasy romance Morally Grey ML Angst Suspense ENEMIES to lovers Smut (like sprinkles on your ice cream)
