I really don't like the Mc. He's just not likable to me. The first person he met who was a little stronger than him he wanted to worship as a master. No questions no nothing. He just seems like a sheep to me, and I prefer independent, self-reliant MCs who take agency and try to learn things themselves.

GOSTARwhy don't you continue for a few more chapters and see how much his master helped him? It is almost nothing, MC is almost independent since he has a system to grow strong. This is just a fast-paced novel and MC is very excited at starting, he can tell that person is not bad, so he accepts him as master, so he can get more resources. there is nothing wrong with this and the story gets too interesting as it continues.
Exactly, you never knew martial arts like super powers were a thing, a guy willing to teach you as long as you become a disciple, who wouldn't ? Doesn't mean you see them as God, it just means you seen the chance and took it to change your life
