I personally don't think that it is optimal for you to do that as it is essentially giving up creativity and content for ease of writing. If you want to create the best ff, you can then your current approach to this problem may cause a bit of trouble later on. To summarize, it might limit you in the future, but if you still want to do it like that, then I will respect your choice in this matter.

My point is don't limit yourself to one energy source and make sure to give them perks and downsides. For example, environmental energy can be an easy but very weak energy source or let the user of the device become the energy source with the perk of it being mobile and cheap but inconsistent in output and being a stamina drain. It gives you the capability to put limits on a creation and gives a reason for upgrades.
