I think pichu is good for him, gible will be very op and will make the path way too easy now, while Pichu is not so strong and many people underastimate this evolution line. While raichu literally learn surf and other powerful attacks and can punish everyone who look down at him. and of course, gible would be cliche while pichu is something new.
