Another thing I thought about was whether or not I should create an AI. The Explorer is already semi-sentient and given time, it could develop full sentience. So it won't be necessary to create an AI for the ship at least. When I create my planet, this might change though. I know nothing about artificial intelligence though, so that might take a long time.
